Do we have a a Car / Picture of the Month?
I spend alot of time on e90post and notice them as well as almost every other forum has such a thing. People submit their photo of their car, set up a poll, and all members vote... winning pic becomes car or picture of the month.
If not, should we start one? I know I got plenty of insipiration from other members here so why not make it official? Edit: It's NOW Official, submit your photos ASAP! http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=478351 Last edited by 3002 tii; 01-20-2011 at 10:01 AM.. |

We have a COTM page.
The Z4s are bottom right.

and what i'm proposing doesn't have to be the "official" cotm from bimmerpost but could be just among our local community/section of e85/86's... Last edited by 3002 tii; 01-18-2011 at 10:59 AM.. |

Well we have at least 12 regulars on the E85/86 board
We should promise to vote for each others cars for the next year lol

But for a few z4's out there, almost all of our cars look the same---maybe a few differences in trim and wheels, but not many of us have gone extreme modding (eg: wide body, spoiler, bbk, etc...)
I can think of two or three unique e85/86's on this forum (CRfine's m coupe, the Alpina conversion, a few unique roadsters)---the rest are all pretty much stock (a function of the lack of parts out there for our cars). I'm not saying we shouldn't be featured in COTM, but after the few unique cars are nominated as COTM, the rest are just basically stock.

Here is a link to a photo of my stock 3.0si that was taken by my friend and subsequently selected by BMW Atlantic's Canadian monthly club newsletter for the January cover: http://bmwclubatlantic.ca/Propellor_JAN2011.pdf That photo is an example of the results you can get with careful composing and a darn good eye. Hats off to my buddy - my plain old stock Z4 becomes a cover model in the eye of his camera! There are some nice articles in there too.

so how do we get this going? do we need to contact a moderator or is this something we can do among ourselves?
i figure we'll make it an official thread that keeps track of each month's winners (sticky), but create a new thread for each month's submissions? figure latter is better that way you don't have to go through multiple pages to find the "current" month... general section or gallery? |

General would get more attention, but the gallery section is probably where it belongs. I say a sticky thread in general for the winners, and each month's submissions in gallery.

Thanks Guys! I wasn't fishing for compliments.
Well, yeah - I was!!! But I really wanted to show how you can get a great photo with skillful use of the camera, even if your car is stock. My buddy shoots his pictures in RAW mode. That allows greater flexibility in adjusting the photo so it appears as the human eye perceives the scene. I have a Canon SLR and in my opinion, the editing software that Canon provides is very limited and does not allow you to adjust the exposure adequately. My buddy uses Aperture on his Mac to get the best out of his pictures. Cheers!!

I like this idea! We can still have 12 cars for this year, just have the voting at the end of the month.
I would say, since it was your idea you get to be in charge of the thread making. We could do it on submission from self or nomination from others. then once the threads get enough attention, maybe the mods will sticky it! IDK, i just like the idea of having a 85/86 CotM thread since it seems the 89's run away with the voting. I still think the 85/86 looks better.

Shall we commence voting now for a Jan photo, or end of month submissions for a a Feb photo? I think the latter makes more sense. |
