Rogue Engineering DMS Exhaust Installed

I got my Rogue Engineering DMS Exhaust earlier in the week and today I found the time to install it. Since I think there is only one other 135i with this exhaust (I think this is the first production unit), I thought I would post some pics and initial impressions.

The quality of the exhaust is noticeable immediately. Most of my aftermarket exhaust experience has been with SuperSprint. I always felt they were top of the heap. Until now. This exhaust is a thing of beauty. The Rogue Exhaust weighs 15lbs while the stock exhaust weighs 29lbs (I weighed both on a bathroom scale so the accuracy of these weights may be off a bit). I am still getting used to the change in sound and would prefer to have more in car time with it before I give any impressions.

It is louder

I am not sure how I answer that. At idle it is a bit louder than stock. At cruising/highway speed it is a bit louder than stock. When you put your right foot down, it is considerably louder than stock.

edit: I think Rogue summed it up very well on their website:

How does it sound? Civilized sound with an aggressive tone when prompted. Virtually imperceptible droning at highway speeds and stock like idle when sneaking into the neighborhood late at night. Deep throaty sound when the revs increase, without the typical "Asian Import" sound at higher RPMs found in exhausts produced overseas (Hmmm...there may be a correlation).

Not a fan of the sound - the sound of a BMW PE on an N55 car is hard to beat. Looks amazing though!

sounds awesome, looks outstanding. This one just went to the very top of my list, specially if paired w/ a nice mid-pipe like MadDads.

roughly, how much do the tips stick out of the diffuser?

They must pack the shit out of the box. 15lbs exhaust....but 70lbs shipping weight??? Did know catrboard and bubble wrap is so heavy lol.

Because of the size of the box, this items ships by UPS Oversize.

UPS minimum weight for oversized packages is 70 lbs.

RE makes great exhausts. If the one sounds anything like the EL DIABLO exhaust I had on my E46 m3 Im sold! I can't wait till the start working on one for the 1 M

I was thinking the same thing. No way in hell am I going to silver tips on my 135.

100% agree w/ you on this one, its amazes me how much black tips are asked for yet all vendors ignore this.

The video is an N55. My car is a 2008 N54.

I tried to shoot a video but I was using the video on my still camera and it filtered out most of the sound.
