New Software changed traction control sensitivities

May build '11 ZCP

Had some work done on my car, and they loaded new software. Before MDM mode was good not great. I felt BMW could have dialed back the nannies a bit more but it was great for track work until I went bare .

I noticed something with the new software, in non-mdm mode the traction control is more intrusive. I can hardly get on the throttle before traction control kicks in and this is in traffic in a straight line on smooth pavement. Definitely more intrusive than with the original software. However, the "new" MDM mode now allows me to do nearly full power slides . So it seems BMW decided to make non-mdm mode more conservative, but opened up the MDM mode, now providing me with the perfect amount of leash to hang myself.

I thought I noticed that last time I went to the track but I had just switched to slicks and attributed it to the tires.

I've always run R comps at the track, this new software has definitely adjusted the MDM. I just ran a few laps and it feels like traction control is turned off in MDM.

Interesting. I wonder if this effects all cars or only ZCP? I ask because ZCP comes with different MDM programming from non-ZCP cars. It seems possible they wanted to further differentiate the ZCP programming thus increasing its marketability.
