Noob to jb please help..
I am new to the JB and would like more information before I purchase one.
1.Would it be fine to run on stock 135I with m package with no mods? 2.The whole update thing boggles my mind..do you just download the update on a PC/MAC and install the update via the BMS usb cable to the JB? 3.whats the difference to JB Stage 3 (JB4 Beta) Plug & Play and JB Plus Quick Install (JB+). 4. I am worried about my warranty, could a noobie install and uninstall it easy for when i bring it to the shop? 5.do you recommend a beginner to even buy this.. dont be harsh everyone has to start some where.. Thanks! |

Installing a plug and play is very simple. Just have to learn how to take off the air filter and your set. Took me about 25 min the first time with instructions from online. You should speak to the guy from Burger motorsports. Forgot his name but im sure he ll help you out.

I got the JB+ and I'm sticking with it. I just wanted a little bit more Ooomph I guess you can say on the car and I'm satisfied with it. If you want massive power and flexability then with the JB3 or 4.

1. Yes the JB3 has different maps for different mods
2. Yes 3. The JB4 is the more advanced tune over the JB3 and JB+. It has alot more features and according to users smoother power delivery. The JB+ has an easier install though not as sophisticated. 4. It gets easier every time you do. It can be a little nerve racking for begginers, but burger has great customer sevice. 5. Yes. Like I said it can be a bit daunting for a begginer to do this, but the removal is super easy all you have to do is to make sure your connecting the right connectors to the right spots. |

I didn't have any prior experience under the hood of the 135i and it only took me 40 minutes to install it. Piece of cake. My car is completely stock. Now that I know how everything fits together I can't imagine it'll take more than 20 minutes to pull it out for warranty work.

1) Yes, most people running JB's are actually close to stock. The Jb has different settings for different levels of modifications, so you will be fine.
2) Windows compatible only. You just plug in the USB cable and update to the latest firmware. Simple process. 3) JB3 / JB4 are full piggybacks with tons of options and adjustibility and higher levels of boost. The JB+ is a much simpler device which raises the boost some but doesnt get fancy. The JB3 / JB4 have to be installed in the engine computer which can be a pain. The JB+ installs with one plug into one sensor in the engine bay. JB+ is basically a simpler version, but also not as powerful. 4) Once you do the install your self once, it will take less than 15 minutes from then to uninstall. It really is simple, it just seems complicated because you are plugging into the engine computer and wiring harness. 5) YES. JB makes wonderful products that a biggener shouldnt have any problems with. Maybe buy a used JB+ to start with just to get some experience and later move up to a JB4. The extra power is intoxicating. Enjoy |

i have a jb3 now jb4.
i've ordered the cobb ap programmer, this is a flash, more expensive but programs through the obd port inside the car, and uninstalls same way. no work under hood. i've been in for service 4 times in 6 mo, so i'm skilled at changing it in and out, but don't want to bother anymore. the cobb however 900 vs 500 for the jb4. if cost is an issue, the jb4 is an awesome unit; i just don't want the hassle and am willing to try the new program. 1.Would it be fine to run on stock 135I with m package with no mods?
JB4 works fine on any 135i - bone stock or fully modified. 2.The whole update thing boggles my mind..do you just download the update on a PC/MAC and install the update via the BMS usb cable to the JB? Yup! You download the free update and upload it to your JB3 using the datalogging cable. 3.whats the difference to JB Stage 3 (JB4 Beta) Plug & Play and JB Plus Quick Install (JB+). JB3 PNP > JB+. period. JB3 outperforms the JB + in almost every aspect. I would get the JB4 though 4. I am worried about my warranty, could a noobie install and uninstall it easy for when i bring it to the shop? I think your definitely capable of installing/uninstalling it. Save yourself the trouble/time and get the plug and play version. 5.do you recommend a beginner to even buy this.. Yes, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to use it. Just plug it in and enjoy! If you have any questions, feel free to call me direct at 714 582 3330 ext 8005 and ill help answer anymore questions. -Frank |

Is JB stage 2 Compatible with 29.2/v81 ECU? If you buy the JB3 (jb4 Beta) does that mean you no longer need a BT scan or CAN tool, since you can delete codes using the piggyback? Also what is the BMS USB Cable used for and do you need it? sorry for all the questions!!!!

Is there a popular website for all the JB units and listing all the differences and all the other info needed to learn about these things and make an informed purchase? Thanks.
