S54 And the S65
VERY good read. Author did a great job, on pretty much everything.
This article is for those who can really appreciate both of these wonderful motors. Makes me appreciate what I have under my hood, and leads me on for when i get my e90M. Kind of depressing read though, considering the fact that we'll never see anything like them again. My e90M3 will be a keeper, for awhile. And bye bye BMW. No F/I for me. http://www.***********.com/showthrea...ower-potential |

Great read. It's sad we are currently witnessing the decline of BMW as an enthusiast manufacturer.
Now they would rather cash in on the latest trends in the automotive landscape. By jumping on the turbo bandwagon, BMW can cut engine diversity and development costs by making fewer engines and simply adjusting the boost levels according to sticker price and product hierarchy. Even M models will feature the same engines as the rest of the line-up, but now featuring breathing and cooling upgrades to reliably allow higher levels of boost. And did I mention a cool button on the steering wheel that will allow a limited 10 second offer of additional boost? Oh and this button is only available if you purchase the technology package for $5,000 which also comes bundled with navigation, electronic damper control, and climate controlled cup holders that have their operating screen in the i-Drive menu. Welcome to the generic future of BMW, with even their top of the line road cars slowing becoming indistinguishable from their rivals such as Mercedes and Audi. |

Great write-up......just more fuel to the fire of my argument that BMW ///M has been taken out back and had its balls cut off by some marketing and accounting pricks that don't fully comprehend what they are doing to their company in the long run......
Cheers, e46e92

Yes good read. I believe that member has been banned here....
I enjoy NA as much as the next person, but if they can keep the weight down on the next M3 while making the engine more efficient, I'll be more than happy. If the next M3 was kept naturally aspirated with the mileage coming close to the M5, I'd be very hard pressed to consider it as a daily driver. On the track, NA is king, but on the road I think the turbo will be much more usable. Maybe they can consider offerings like porsche with a turbo and gt3-like versions. |

Anyone who contributes meaningfully to this forum gets banned. He's not the only one that's been chased out. If you don't pray to the God of BMW, they'll find a way to get you out. Having anything but a politically correct vocabulary will even get you kicked out for a while.

Sticky would get pretty rude and abuse here and on other forums. He had an attitude problem.
Where LeMans Blue was run out by the venders, which was a HUGE loss IMO. Not sure why PencilGeek has essentially disappeared. He's gently spamming many sites now trying to draw people to his own site, but most have caught on. .

Sounds like you are just jealous and bitter, why are you hating? Let's see you put something like this together and if you can't, respect someone who can. Looks to me like the problem is the overly politically correct atmosphere here as the guy succeeded with his own site. Try to congratulate instead of bringing people down, sad. The answer to why PG disappeared is on the site you are referring to. |

I don't run the board, but I was here when he use to go at it with anyone who didn't agree with him. it got boring to read and was childish, IMO. He know's his stuff, but anyone who didn't agree with him was talked down to. Bottom line is, he's been kicked out of MULTIPLE sites for what he says, so it's not just the mods here who got tired of him shooting his mouth off. Also keep in mind a LOT of his posts (and the people he was arguing with) were REMOVED by the mods. As for the info, anyone who gets Roundel and surfs a little on the E90 site could have put that together. In any case, it's well done, though saying 600wHP from an N54 is pushing the limits, since there have been a few cases of blown motors with 16+psi boost, and they were no where near 600wHP. So do yourself a favor and join the CCA so you'll get Roundel. Then check up on Bimmefile and flip through Bimmer Magazine along with the big three and you'll know what's up with BMW. .
