Need Help, some one hit my rear bumper :(
hey everyone, i just saw that some one hit my rear bumper and i have no idea who he was i am wondering what i should do ? definitely the damage is less than $1000 which is my deductible so my insurance can not do anything for me. can anyone estimate how much it should be to get it fixed? it seems like it just need a touch up pain there, no dents or anything
thanks |

from the looks of it, that just might buff out...try some rubbing compound..if you have a good detailer local to you, might be work asking...depends how deep those scrates are, but form those pics they look "superficial"...good luck

the car who hit me seemed to be a red one, i just saw it and i took the picture right away, so u might not be able to see it clearly (took the car to car wash and then took the pictures) . i think it needs paint as well.

looks pretty minor. the most it will need is some touch up of the paint. should cost bout $200 or $300 to take care of it. no point repainting the entire bumper since it will likely get scratched sooner or later.

That'll buff out all day long, polish, wax, etc.
That's not damage, just a scuff.

I feel for you. I had my M3 for 1 week when someone hit my rear bumper while they were trying to parallel park. Unfortunately it won't buff out, it creased the bumper and scratched the paint...same shape and size as a European license plate. I'm not bothering to get it fixed until I get stateside...It'll just happen again. People here are so damn careless, to most of them a car is just transportation. I also had to pay 80 Euros to get a door dent taken out.

Most of that will buff out. I would definitely not make an insurance claim or pay to fix that.
Good luck and congrats on the car!

As others have said, have it buffed with a cleaning compound, then a polish, and finally a wax. Also, my detailer used a system called "Paint Perfect" on a nasty scratch that went through the paint. When he was done I couldn't see the scratch, and I'm a fanatic.

As others have said, that looks minor. From what I can see, a quick buff with rubbing compound, or if you want to use something less abrasive, those scratch removers will work too.
I have had something similiar on my previous cars where I was parallel parked and the person behind me scuffed my bumper while getting out. Some rubbing compound took it right off followed by your favorite wax or polish. Will look like new. Give it a shot, cheaper than going to the dealer.

From the pics it doesnt look that bad. Sucks that someone hit you.
How deep are the scratches? If they arent very deep a good detailer should be able to get them out. If they are deep you may need to go a step further. |

not at BMW im not confident.
take it to a REAL professional detailer, not some hackjob with a rotary and tell u that u need some "delux package". Find a real detailer who knows wat their doing. Refer to the detailing section and ask for advice from there. |

A professional detailer will have more knowledge, better products, and should take the time to make it as good as possible. My most recent experience with the dealer's body shop scares the crap out of me.

wow that sucks, im sorry that happened to you. People have zero respect and dont give a shit. Its really disgusting, and the fact that "most" people have valid drivers licenses is sickening. Half the time they dont know how to drive, let alone park there own crappy car! I hope it looks as good as new, although doubtful, but I hope so..
