Michelin PSS\'s....ETA?
Anyone know when these are coming in more sizes? Currently it's just 20" Fitment. They said worldwide rollout in january...
I'm holding off on ordering wheels because I want PSS's haha. |

You live in SoCal where it never rains. Why do you want a tire that tradeoffs overall performance for good wet traction? There are much better options out there for a whole lot less money.

I had a good experience with my PS2's...I see it as why spend around 1400 for tires if the replacements coming in a matter of weeks. And I still have 70% thread left on my stockies, these tires are for my second set of wheels

Not trying to be a dick but until they become widely available blanket statements like the one you've made don't really make any sense and are of no help to the OP |

Wow. You guys all own cars (E85/E86 ///Ms) that serve as testimony to the fact that manufacturers do not put the best tires available on their cars. Instead, tire decision is based on a combination of factors/tradeoffs including availability (do I already have tires in-house that I can use), general drivability (not strictly performance), and price (which manufacturer is going to give the best deal/greatest kickbacks).
The PS2 (and its successor the PSS) are both categorized as Max Performance Summer tires which means they're not in the top summer performance category of Extreme Performance Summer tires. So the fact is, the PS2 (and the PSS) both ultimately trade some performance for better all-weather drive-ability. The statements I made were not generalizations and if you had done your FMIR (Five Minutes of Internet Research), you would have known the difference.

Until these tires are tested & reviewed, I wouldn't put much stock on any info you see out there yet.
It does look like there are some size choice limitations. Quote:

So why are they used by so many super cars? Simply put, there's more to tires than raw skidpad and slalom numbers. Slip angle vs. lateral acceleration, carcass construction, vertical stiffness, friction circle, etc. That's why it's good to stick with the OEM tire (or at least within the same brand). They don't all work the same, and you tune a car's suspension with a certain type of tire in mind. That's why you read reviews of the same tire where one guy says it's perfect and another finds it nervous and unpredictable. Michelin pretty much makes the best race tires out there at the moment, so a lot of manufacturers are already very familiar with the dynamics of the tire (and thus it's easy to design a car around it). At least, that's my hypothesis. |
