N55 BMW performance upgrade kit

Hey guys.....I went to my local BMW dealer and asked him if there were any performance parts released yet for the N55. To my surprised he said that the performance kit is out. Only bad part...it's 1500Euro+install.

Anyone have it installed yet, if yes what do think of it?

Does it give you a torque boost like the IS model?

If its anything like the one for my N54 the claimed HP/TQ numbers are actually to the wheels. After three runs on a Dynapack (on 92 octane) I averaged 285 rwhp and 343 rwtq. For the money, no its not close to aftermarket in terms of power. On the plus side its a BMW warrantied kit, comes with a better fan and a supplementary radiator (as some have said that in addition to oil temp, coolant temp can induce limp mode) and I am pretty sure that with at least one piggyback you can still run it on top of the BMW Performance tune. If money and outright speed is important than go for the tunes (Vishnu Procede V5 or Burger Motorsports JB4). As for the BMW tune it is still great and its nice having a little edge over stock cars, but there is no competing with a tuned N54/N55 motor. Only benefit is I have noticed a noticeable difference in oil and coolant temps (I have the BMW Performance Steering wheel). Also Cobb is new to BMW tuning so maybe stay tuned to them too.

I Checked online at the US site and no performance tune for the N55 is listed. My dealer here said that as far as they knew it had not been released. They did not know about a euro release.

In a post a few days after the one you are referencing, Dan said "No figures yet, but let's expect to see the N55 kit within the first few weeks of Jan." So we may be getting close.

I posted on that thread asking Dan for any news.

It might not be out in the states yet but it is out here in Germany. The dealership I go to is one of the biggest in the area.

Sorry but I don't have a link since I get all my information from the Parts/performance person at my dealership. He gets regular updates about perfomance parts, release dates, etc.
I talked to him on friday, asking him about performance parts and he said he is supposed to get an update this coming week.

What would u like to know Jersey?

Personal preference I guess. I'd say I'll take the 20hp and keep my warranty.

I just read on a german forum from a guy that has the N55 kit mentioned that Hoses, wiring harness extensions, holders, Relay boards, radiator, fan, spark plug, air ducts, and mass amounts of hardware were installed.
And apperently the DTC, DSC, ABS gets reconfigured but he didnt get more info on that.

It's supposed to give you an extra 20-26hp +20-30tq.

Hope this helps. I will try to get more infos from BMW this week.

I ordered my power kit for my n55 two weeks ago, called the dealer yesterday and told me he will have it at his place by tomorrow, from what he has told me the info given by marcus previously is correct.
I will report back once installed, in a week and a half.
I,m in South America.
