Question on Sunroof Operation....

i used to have an e39 m5, got a 2011 e92 m3 about 2 months ago and am very happy so far...i do have one question on the sunroof operation however, granted a minor point.

on my e39 m5, i could push the button to 'vent' the roof from any position. the roof could be fully open, fully closed, etc and one push and it would go to the vented position.

on my m3 however, it operates differently. i can only vent the roof from the fully closed position. if the roof is open and i push the vent button nothing happens..i have to close the roof, then push the vent button and it vents.

i'm curious if this is the way they all operate now. the way my e39 operated was a bit easier since any position was no more than 'one touch' away, not the case any more at least on my car. thanks...

It's a cutout in the sheet metal of the roof which opens to let the sun light into the car

My M5 and my 335 both would go into vent from any position but the M3, you have to go to close and then push up to vnt on the M3. That sucks!

I thought mine was malfunctioning. I am coming to a 2011 E92 M3 from a 2008 335 and that is how my 335 worked. From any position I could push vent and it would go to that. I dont like having to close it then vent. I bet there is some type of code reprogramming that could fix this. Glad to see my sunroof isnt just broken like I thought it was lol.
