Jumpy RPM gauge
Hi guys,
I was wondering if you guys encountered anything like this on their E82 N54 engine during acceleration? I was driving today and then all of a sudden the RPM needle dropped down to 1500 RPM while I was travelling 70 KMS. I felt like the car couldn't accelerate for a moment. What was that I was experiencing? It was like it was a sudden loss in power for a second. I had my car since 2008 and so far I didn't experience anything bad happen up till now. Could this be a HPFP? I don't have any problems with starting the car up at all. I need a little help on this one. Can anybody figure this out? Much Appreciated..................... |

sounds like the HPFP. Have you been having issues in the morning when starting her up prior to this?

what did you do to get the car back to normal? restart?
ive seen a few HPFP fail like that but not many, most get a code right away and of course the long cranks |

I'm not sure if it's the HPFP. I don't have any issues with start ups at all it starts up fine. Actually while I was driving the RPM needle dropped and then it felt like it lost power and so I gently put my foot on the accelerator and then it seemed like the car wouldn't go but I let my foot off the accelerator again for 2 seconds and then accelerated again the car came back alive again. It's almost like a sudden jerking accelerating. I get this feeling when you accelerate and then brake and then begin accelerating again. It's like the power isn't there after this happened. It feels strange for sure. I can't pin point it. I'm kinda worried about taking my car for long trips, not sure what to do... |

Your car is AT or MT? Maybe it's just gearbox reacts slowly. Like you said RPM dropped. So car had to loose the speed also?
Also what you guys calling long starts in the morning? For example mine is little longer than during the day. In the morning it's like maybe 2 seconds start. |
