what will we see for MY12
I have a two part question. I am waiting to order a new m3 before the run stops.
1. First question when will the production run (last order date) of the e90 m3 be? My guess is my13? 2.Second-what other goodies will we see for 2012 MY or my 2013 if it exists. Any possible chance of a power upgrade, new colors--I am new to M cars but what do they start throwing in near the end. More standard stuff?> I would love 25 extra HP and Leguna Seca color option--any thoughts? |

People are still waiting months for their recently ordered 2011...so you're very early. Also, if I'm not mistaken, 2012 vs. 2013 will be completely different cars.
The F3X is due out in 2013 (I could be wrong, it might be 2014).

I think Scott has said several times now that MY 2012 will be the last production year. I seriously doubt there will be a power upgrade. It will probably just be more minor cosmetic changes. Probably a few more small cost-saving efforts too. I do have a strong feeling they will put in the LED Angel Eyes for 2012 (you know, the ones that should have been in the 2011 to begin with).

As of now there is nothing from bmw to us stating any changes in design, performance, or cosmetics. The only thing that is going to change is the price. The M will get a price increase of 500$ starting beginning of next year , who know though maybe bmw will throw out one last item to grab the buyers who are on the fence we will just have to wait and see.

http://www.google.com/search?q=e90+m...www.m3post.com Anyway, the bottom line is you've got less than a year to order the car. Probably about 10 months. Of course, this is assuming you really did me mean E90 and not E92. Quote:

I simply mean when is the latest date I can order the M E92 coupe?
I am making the last few payments off my 5 series, going through a move cross country and wont have the funds until august/september. I am graduating residency so my salary will bump by 5 times-however that wont happen until this summer. I wanted the last year just to have one of the last ones made and wait for any possible upgrades. Obviosuly I can always get one used, its not the end of the world. However when the new e90 came out, they were still selling the e46M even though the 330's and 325is e90s were also available. So bottom line-when is the last day I can walk into a bmw dealer and order an M coupe? Also what is the process to get the leguna seca approved? that would even be better. Thanks guys-I have drempt of an am car for my entire teenage life. finally took until I am 30 to almost attain one-I am so excited and jus wanted a new one. I had a new loaded e60 530i sport for the last 5 years and boy did I enjoy every second of that 7k redline and only can imagine 8400k. I have always drempt of a F1 style high redline engine and this is the last of them probably to ever be made with FI being used. Anyway simple question-when is the last day I can order? thanks! |

It will probably late 2012 with a chance for early 2013. But that's my guess and sometimes I just make up lies to keep you guessing. Actually I don't do that, but my answer might be wrong anyway. |

They were still selling the E46 M3 because the E46 3series coupes hadnt ended production at the time.
3-series coupes typically come a model year later than the sedans in the U.S. Thats why you were seeing the E90 3series sedans while the last E46 M3 coupes were being sold. Heres what Scott26 has said about the E9X M3 production. Quote:

to add to this.. When will the first MY 2012 be delivered? I currently have on order a 2011.5 for delivery in March. However, If 2012 is coming out in June i would rather wait for the possible updates and a newer car. Rather than having a 3 month old car that is already outdated (not really outdated but you get the point.

so when you guys say MY2012 would be the last one-say middle of 2012. Is that the last day you can go in and ORDER from a dealer a brand new car. Or you have to order it so it will arrive by that date? So if I walk into the dealer on the hypothetically the last day its available can I still place my order even though it will be delievered well after it is off the site

Why push it so close? I'm also looking into getting a MY2012 M3.
I believe the MY switches over around Sept or so (I could be wrong though). My plan is to put it my order around Oct of 2011 for a MY2012 car. My current car is MY2008 and I ordered it in Oct 2007 with delivery the last week of Dec 2007. |

Kinda OT, but that's pretty surprising. As I recall it, the US launch was March 2008, and the first forum members claiming to have one in the US were posting around that timeframe. Maybe yours was an early ED or military or something like that?

I would say about 12 months from now, but you should talk to you dealer to avoid any surprises and miss your chance to own a V8! I'm surprised they're going back to a 6 (TT) but if it's nice, I'll upgrade my 2011 and buy a 2015 or 2016 (or an M5 if I have kids). M forever!

If Scotts info is correct (there is no reason for it not to be), then I would say that the 2012 E90 M3 should start production Spring of 2011...since its going away in Novemebr. 2012 E92/3 M3s may start production during the regualr time frame of Sept/Oct 2011 as they will then run through mid 2012 (per above). |

One possibility is like you say - the MY 2012 E90 M3 bows this spring. However, almost surely this would mean a shift of the entire 3 series and M3 lineup to MY2012 at that time as well, and that seems unlikely to occur. The reason I think the whole lineup would have to shift model year at the same time is because they took great pains to make that happen for MY2011 even though the 3 series and M3 sedan were not getting any major changes at all by this time (they had their day over a year prior - only the coupe and convertible saw their LCI now). In other words, to keep everything potentially being crossshopped in the showroom in sync, they switched the whole lineup over irrespective of major changes or not. I really don't see them going through that same trouble again, but of course I could be wrong. So that leaves September 2011 as the more likely (and more typical as well) switch to the 2012 model year. This presents the possibility of an extremely short 2012 model run representing the last of the E90 3 series and M3s. This too might seem unlikely at first but to me it is the more plausible course. Recall that the 2005 model year for the E46 3 series sedan was very short as well. An M3 would presumably have faced the same situation had their been one available. Of course, the other way this could get resolved is to just have no 2012 E90 M3 and 3 series at all. This might be the most likely to happen, though it does mean that the F30 will be called a 2012 despite the fact that the timeline for introdction in early 2012 US presents an ideal way to intro an early 2013 model just as BMW usuallly tends to do with the 3 series and 5 series. They can still do this without a 2012 of course, but it will be a little odd to have a model year gap for the 3 series (2011 -> 2013). Also, remember while SCOTT obviously has vast inside knowledge, not everything he says comes to pass as stated simply because when you give advance information like this it is always subject to potential changes. My personal feeling has been that November seems a strange cuttoff. Late summer or early winter make more sense to me, but we should know in the next few months what they've decided to do. |

I wonder how the lease rates will look in 2012, since this will be it's last production year and...if it's anything like the 2010 e60 (before the F10 was released) then residuals are going to be horrible....

The E93 3XX launched as a MY2007 at a weird time in 2007 (I believe that your March month may be correct). When I ordered in Oct, they were doing MY2008 already. I have a rule to generally not buy a first MY car so the company has time to work the bugs out. Of course, I hadn't realized that my car wasn't quite a second MY car... it was more like a 0.5 MY car if you go by calendar dates! lol |

Let's just let the forum history give us the answer.
