I went to the local Whole Foods this evening to pick up dinner rolls and bottled water. While leaving the parking lot, waiting to turn on to the street, an illegal rammed me from behind. When I got out of my car she told me (through her son since she can't speak English) that I hit her by putting it in reverse and ramming her. It's a wonderful life when a person clearly screws up and then promptly blames the victim. It's important not to lose control. If only a guy we're driving.........

I guess you can simply tell her (through her son) that it's up for the police to decide, and that hopefully she has insurance

I cannot stand that stuff. I was at the hosp the other day and at admissions there was someone like that talking through another person but when it came time to ask about insurance and money. In the some of the clearest english I have ever herd she was able to tell them that she had none and no money, amazing she can say that but nothing else. Yes I understand that there are people who need help with that sort of thing but then you have the people who just live off the system and the older/disabled crowed who truly need it and deserve it who cannot get it. That sort of stuff pisses me off. I hope you got the cops there and get everything you can out of her. Although, it sounds like you kept your cool, which is tough since your brand new car

Agree 100%. Unfortunately, (as is often the case in Texas) there are a number of uninsured, illegal immigrants who neither have the means nor the intention to take responsibility for their actions. They are simply here to game the system and "take" what they can. That is why insurance is so damn high in the state of Texas. I now live in the Washington D.C. area, and while my work commute has doubled in terms of miles, and the area is much more populated, and weather patterns all lead to potential increases in my insurance rates, I've found they actually went down considerably once I left Texas.

I took what little information she had while she was telling me it wasn't her fault. By the way, her command of English was situational. Her son kept repeating it wasn't his mom's fault, and after the third time I explained that I won't hit a woman, but an adult male is a different story and it would be best if he stopped talking (which he did). I then went home to entertain friends at my home for dinner. I know it will be fixed under my insurance, and after a lot of inconvenience, my $1,000 deductible, and a couple of weeks it should be back to something close to acceptable. At these times I remind myself I am fortunate to have a car I like, and if I can't handle these problems then I need to buy a beater and shut up. So my wife the shrink tells me.........

If you have uninsured motorist coverage, it will be super simple to recoup your deductible.

Your wife is right. If this minor issue is the only thing you have to worry about, well, your life is pretty damn good.

It's great that you didn't pound on the kid. You don't want to make a minor problem into a real one. It just isn't worth it. You have everything to lose. They have nothing to lose.

Do you have uninsured motorst protection?

Being in California, I've added it to my policy. Basically, if someone who's uninsured (like all illegals) hits me I'm covered and I get no deductible on top of that. Not a bad deal.

I appreciate the opportunity to express my anger without fear of killing someone. I will be checking with my insurance agent later this morning to see what recourse I have. This will happen after I drop by the body shop to get an estimate of the damage. I try to avoid confrontations because I have a bit of a problem when I lose my temper. Fortunately, after therapy, anger management, and Aikido I do have more control, but last night definitely tested me. All in all it went well because no one ended up in the hospital or jail.

Immigrants of years ago at least tried to assimilate. These illegal bastards come here and have no intention of learning our language, customs, culture, etc. They just want to benefit on a generous system that was created by the blood, sweat and tears of all the honest people before them, who made an investment with the rationale that the next generation could have a better life than they did.

Also interesting to note that 90+% of all illegal immigration are the unskilled peasants from just one country...wanna guess which one?
