e93, rear seat comes unhatched..

In my e93, the rear seat cover comes unhatched pretty easily

For example, if I do a 60-0 sudden stopped it'll fall down

or even a 120-60

Any type of a sudden stop it'll fall.. it's very annoying

It used to happen on my 09 e93 335i as well; except back then it even came off under WOT (400+whp)

I took my 335i to the dealer several times and the replaced my entire rear hatch and seat... still occured.

I bought a wind deflector and it 'fixed it'

but the this is happening on my 2011 e93 now...

anyone know if a 'fix' that doesn't require the wind deflector?

I say this cause I don't always have the wind deflector there when it's raining etc...

Also, the wind deflector, for some reason, is much more 'bouncy' and noisy in the m3
though it's suppose to the same (Same part #)

It doesn't seem as secure and table as it did in my e93 335i

anyone have an idea why?

tried searching and came up empty

Thanks

Edit:
The Wind deflector is not more bouncy or noisy.
I took it off and I still hear the annoying sound in the rear.
It's come from the seat thing that folds down

If I open it and SLAM it REALLLLY hard, its nice and quiet for about 10 minutes, then it starts again...

Damn this is so annoying.

I'm thinking I'll just drive with that damn seat cover down...

It's happened to me a couple of times. Both times I was picking up pace on the freeway and the back seats just fell over. Made quite a loud noise.

Yeah

they told me to just complain about it when I do the R/O for my 1200 mile service

since they won't give me a loaner, might as well get it done all at the same time.

Ha! Now who says the M3 doesn't have good brakes.

Sorry, don't have a fix. Just had to comment though. Anyway, sounds pretty cheesy to me. Is there some way you could rig a latch, say using a carabiner or something, to keep this from happening? Just a thought.

Cheers.

latch is too tight from factory. Just need to slam it hard to get the latch to catch. Same thing happened to my '08 a few times.

wouldn't tight be a good thing?

I've slammed this thing at least 5 times a day to shut the noise up to be honest

it drives me nuts

I agree with ring007 -- the seatback must be slammed pretty hard to latch. When I first took delivery of my car in '08, I thought it was a defect, but it's not. And, by the way, you have the do the slamming from the middle -- not from the sides. Also, when doing so, ensure the release buttons aren't depressed.

ok I'll do the slamming from the middle

as I've been doing it from the side (easier to reach from the outside)

See if it fixes it...

Thanks for the advice

I'll keep you guys posted

I wasn't able to show them the rear seat falling as the sound/rattling is more of an annoyance for me (since the wind deflector stops the seat from falling down)

the tech needed to sit in the rear seat to pin point the rattle, so obviously the seat won't fall with someone back there

but he did hear it so I'm not crazy lol

he said it was from the trim wear in the back (didn't specify where on the test drive as he needed to investigate further)

Later he texted me that he fixed it (didn't specify how or what though) and that he took it for a drive and couldn't hear it anymore

He is now waiting for the QC to take it for a test drive as a second set of ears is a good thing

I'll let you guys know what happens when I get it back and drive it

ok well the rattle is gone

it was from the trim piece behind the passenger, the part between the seat and side thing

hard to explain

but, call me crazy, i hear a different rattle from the passenger rear

I'm going to wait to have my gf and others sit in the car and hear it so I know I'm not going crazy lol

this car seems to rattle more than anything I'm used to X.x....

if it was road noise then w/e... but yeah

rear hatch hasn't come loose as I haven't done any hard breaking or accelerating yet

This was my tech's first time hearing it happen on a vert but has worked on a couple coupes that had their rear seat come unhinged

Nothing about sedans though
