I need an M3 intervention

I don't even have one yet but seem know everything about it! My European delivery is in 85 days and I've seen every youtube clip of the M3, M3 vs,M3 DCT, M3 comparo with IS-f and C63.... Every second of the day is researching and researching!

I think I just miss my 335i right now

BTW, the car I'm picking up is:

2011.5 ///M3 Sedan, Interlagos Blue, Bamboo Beige Novillo Leather, Carbon Fiber Leather, Competition Package, Convenience package, Cold Weather Package, Premium 2 Package, Moon roof, Satellite radio, Automatic High beams, M-DCT

Well back to finding more reviews/tesimonials on how awesome my car will be!

Sounds like my car-twin. Well minus the comp package.

I even came from a 335i as well.. and did ED with the M3 but trust me, you wont miss the 335i.

Yeah I know I wont miss it once I have the car back in the states! Especially after I do my PCD and really push the car harder than I normally will on public roads!

In the mean time, I'm beating the piss out of my wifes new G37x. Its ok, but 0 road feel whatsover and gives 0 confidence through the twisties.

BTW, I had some of your photos as my wallpaper at home and at work on my comptuters. Just recently swapped them out.

We were on the same shoes, so to speak. I traded-in my 335 and did the ED and my wife got a G37xS. The wait or journey, if you put it that way, is well worth it. Picking up the M3 via ED is something to cherish. But I cancelled the PCD part because it will be an additional month of waiting. Anway I did the PCD with the 335 delivery. Hang in there.

The wait for PCD is going to be nuts! Its alittle tease to go drive your car around europe for a bit and then be seperated from it for 6-8 weeks!

PCD cars from what I hear are only about 2 weeks behind delivery at the dealership. Plus the guys at PCD seem like extremely nice guys that will try to squeeze people in from EDs; as its not much work for them. Just crossing my fingers for 0 damage on the boat as to not have my car sit in VPC for weeks and weeks! I'll be dropping off the car in Munich on 3/21/11 and hope to have it by memorial day.

Same story here:
I was attached to my 335i, took the leap and traded it in for the new M3 V8.
I've NEVER looked back. There is a HUGE difference between the two,
all pointing to the M3 as superior...
to be fair to my old 335i, the M3 is just a different class of car.

Waiting for your new M3 will be tough.
Obeying the recommended break-in RPMs will be tougher.
All pure JOY.

The PCD scheduling will not be done until the car has reached its US port of destination. During my time, the PCD was fully book and they cannot schedule in advance. Hope yours will be shorter (the wait not the ... ).

Im coming from a 335 too! I loved that car but the M is soo different! I love it even more. The 335 was like my high-school sweetheart that I will always care for but the M is the super model that agrees to marry you!

BTW, you are going to love Bamboo! I was really unsure about it until I actually got my car. Now, im very happy with it! It doesn't look like old lady caddie tan, it looks like young sophisticated khaki.

Thanks guys... you aren't helping!!! Just reitterating how awesome the upgrade is from the 335i is painful!

It truely is sickening on how much I'm on these boards, bimmerfest, youtube, youporn(oh wait ) reading my copies of Roundel.

The upgrade to the M is simply amazing. This will be my first V8, first car with an LSD, first 400+ hp car, it'll have the updated iDrive (2 itterations since my 08). I have owned cars with DSG and adjustable coilovers but the easy and adjustability in EDC and drivelogic are amazing!

Jeremy Clarkson is right though, "M3 owners have no friends". The second I tell someone I'm getting an M their face is like 'Really? GTFO here'

I did the same thing. Checked Youtube daily for new videos, read a bunch of classic old posts on m3post (like threads on the E92's original announcement), and bought every magazine that had the M3 featured (had about 8 of them at the time). I even drove to the dealership every other week just to look at the M3's parked outside. It's a sickness.

I got a fever and the only cure is more M3! I have an M3 parked next to my desk at all times. It's a condition of my employment with the dealer.

Congrats on your upcoming trip!

David

Its funny you say that, on the weekends if we don't have to drive past the dealership, I make it a point to go for a drive to see the white ZCP thats been on ramp since October. It just recently was taken off last weekend. Not sure if it was sold... I'll know tonight when I go past there

My family thinks I am the only one that visits the dealership when they are closed just to look at their new cars lol. Cant sleep at 2am? Take a drive to your local BMW dealership and you will have wonderful dreams full of angel eyes, NA V8's, and Twin Turbos.

Now that I have the M. I am obsessed with looking at Mods online all day lol.

you guys are funny, I have noticed a few forum members (wont mention any names ) on here walking our lot after closing looking at the M's haha now I know why. I can drive any BMW anytime but I chose an M3 just because its such a great experience every time I step behind the wheel

Because i swapped a lease to get out of the 335i. I now haz my wifes car for the next 5-6 months

Just because I loved my 335i doesn't mean I can't upgrade does it? I was also leasing and since i got a new job (and quite a pay raise) it only seemed fitting to reward such hard work with a nice car, finance it and hope to keep the car for a long while.

Yeah for sure, ofcourse you can upgrade! I was just curious because theres guys who like the turbo more then NA, and yes you make a good point about loving it meaning you can't switch car to something new! Sry if it came out wrong! Enjoy the M, you won't be dissapointed.

The N54 engine is great even if I had to have my HPFP replaced! It was leased and completely stock, no JuiceBox or anything.

I also like to rev out the engine and with the N54 engine there comes a point where 'you aint getting anymore power!' I also wanted one of the last M3 sedans as well as one of the last NA engines in an M including the only V8!

After reading your post I feel 100% the same way you do about the 2 cars!!! Great write up! 300Mile range on a tank of gas in the 335i! I was lucky to hit 215 miles. I'm not too concerned about the gas milage in the M, it is what it is.

Glad you enjoyed the write up..........you might be more concerned about the gas mileage if you lived in Europe and were paying over $9.00 a gallon though
