Trunk Lock - doesn't always open

Once in a while when using the comfort access to open the truck it does not work (unless I manually use the button on the key). It does not appear to be related to the other doors being locked or unlocked (I think). Anyone else notice this? Guess I am wondering whether to bring an intermittent problem to the stealer, or if there is some other obvious fix (like the doors have to be unlocked or something with the key. Thanks again for any feedback.

I have the same problem. I set the alarm off today while trying to open the trunk. I'm not sure why, but it doesn't seem to work as seamlessly as I would like.

Same thing happened to me...set off the alarm as the trunk would not open with CA.

WTF BMW! Please fix your lame a$$ transmitter and receivers for Comfort Access. It works flawless when starting my car but only 80% of the time when grabbing the doors or trunk.

Happened all the time on my M3, happens all the time on my M6. I like CA (it's saved me from locking my key in the trunk twice) but it can be totally inconsistent.

You gotta find the sweet spot, but once you do it should work every time. I had problems the first few times I had to open it, but you'll learn where to stand and when to push.

I find I have to have my hand there for a little bit then I push the button and hold it in.

i noticed that it doesn't work as well if i'm standing TOO close to the trunk with the keyfob in my pocket...maybe the signal is getting blocked somehow, but i find that if i take a step back the signal gets picked up and i'm able to open the trunk. hope this helps someone...

I agree that you have to find the sweet spot on the handle. But it should work everytime when you do.

The one thing that doesn't work all the time for me is, on my remote when I push trunk open button, the trunk doesn't always unlatch.

I have to agree, CA can be finicky at times... I usually try to open the trunk via the button in the bottom of the driver seat

Is it every tricky between opening the drunk and setting the alarm off? How long do you have to push the button on the remote for the trunk to open?

there's a dedicated button to open the trunk.

Correct. I had the same problem. Now I reach my hand as far forward as it will go on the latch, press it and it unlocks flawlessly.

Glad to know it wasn't just me. I've had this problem with both of my cars. Need to stand just a hair further away from the trunk or just use the key fob.

Thumbs down

Holding the trunk button on the fob for more than 2 sec sets off the Panic alarm!?! Stupid feature. I am trying to access my trunk - not advertize my supposed ignorance of my new vehicle.

CA is great for the other features, just not trunk access...Never responds to any attempt unless you use the fob.

Seriously, I always set the alarm off when using the fob. At least my CA works consistently for the trunk.

Anyone know if you can adjust the alarm setting on the key fob to engage after more than 2 secs?

Same problem here. It usually works fine if I touch the door handle to unlock the doors first, then no problem opening the trunk. I have set off the alarm a couple of times by using the keyfob.

Once your hand gets used to the "sweet spot" it works great. Can do it blindfolded first hit.
