Any chance of BOV Kit for N55?

I understand that the N55 is having MAF unlike the N54(MAP). Any experts that can enlighten me whether there is a possibility that there will be a BOV kit for N55?

Thanks.

What about a DV that vents 50/50?

Is it possible on the design of the N55?

Thanks.

I think Synapse already has a BOV out for the N55 I'll try to find a link

Thanks for the link. Hopefully this is the kit for the N55.

However, I am alittle sceptical because from the threads that I have read so far about BOV, it seems like the design is totally different from the N54 and the MAF is really restricting the use of BOV(I hope this is not true). Maybe someone can correct me?

Thanks.

Is the MAF sensor upstream or downstream of where the BOV would be?

The only wat to run a BOV on the N55 is to have a tune that will compensate for the loss of air because it has a MAF sensor, just like on evo's n STi's. If you just throw a BOV on it your car will run crappy.

Ran plenty of BOVs on MAF equipped cars, without there ever being a hindrance to performance.

Not to sure about the N55, ill have to re look, but most engines come factory equipped with a recirculation valve that does the same thing as a BOV so there shouldn't be any problem with adding a bov to the car in general all you are doing is replacing the stock recirc unit with an dump to atmosphere.

Wrong on this one. Did you catalog and check A/F ratios between shifts? And a recirc system or DV does not do the same thing as a BOV. it is possible that the cars you ran a BOV on had the MAF downstream. If that is the case then there would be no issue.

+1

If your MAF is before DV it accounts for that air and that's why it's recirculated, but if it's after the DV then it's not accounted for because it's vented before it hit's the MAF only then is it safe to run a BOV and according to Black E the N55's before the DV. Not sure which cars you had you had daniel you probably had one with the MAF after the DV.

Yes, a recirc system is the same principle as a BOV kit except it dumps the excess pressure back into the system unlike a BOV that vents to atmosphere.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blowoff_valve

And the cars I have worked on all had the MAF on the intake side... Also used stand alone engine managements, so that is more than likely the reason it works.

Yeah most that I've seen like my friends 2008 STi and needed a stand alone (I said tune) to work with a BOV properly. I didn't see it before he had the tune, but he told me it didn't run right. At the time I was in the market for a BOV. I ended up getting forge DV's. I believe the eagle talon was one of the cars with the MAF after the BOV

The n55 has a built-in recirc valve integrated into the turbo compressor housing. There really isn't any reason to install another one AFAIk.

Will the n55 accomodate a change of the DV alone since it is built into the compressor housing? Will the stock DV withstand increased boost?
