Thought the show was great and am glad it's set up like the European version. Tanner Faust is good driver but don't think the American 3 will have the character and witt of Jeremy, Richard and James.

Havent seen the American version, but judging by the previews it's a bit too much of the knockoff from the British show. Why waste time on the copy when you can watch the original?

Honestly I was not impressed. The hosts don't have anywhere near the personality of the British 3. That interview of Buzz Alderen was painful to watch. Have a feeling it will die quickly.

The personality of the British 3 made show even better..I agree, but the people I recommended this show to said it was so exciting (never saw the orig. obviously) but its so good and was smiling ear to ear anyways. Wish the seasons were longer than 10 episodes and don't think it'll die unless they didn't advertise for it properly.
Buzz is like upper 80's and was on dancing with the stars last season till about the middle of the show, that was painful lol. Just one interview so lets see about the other weeks.

I'll give it a chance... for a while, anyhow.
The review that I read claimed that it got considerably less stilted by episode 3, but my worst fears were realized on episode 1: they made a carbon copy of the UK show's sets, bits, and attitude, but they removed the personalities. You know, the important part. |

The hosts dont have as much character as the British crew. Theres a weird, tense, dynamic between the British three that makes them so entertaining to watch.
Hopefully we'll see some of the friendly competition between these three. |

I'd admit a track test with the Lambos wouldve been better than a standing mile run, but not boring. They did show there competitive nature and opinions the most in this segment.

I missed last week's American Top Gear premiere (had to watch Futurama Thanksgiving special), but after watching tonight's, I think I would agree with the consensus here that the American guys just don't have the personalities that the Brits have. But it's only their second episode. I won't be too harsh on them. Maybe they'll figure things out and develop the goofy competitiveness of the Brits over the course of a season.
They have absolutely copied the Brits' format, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. They just need to work out the details. The format isn't what makes the Brit Top Gear show good, it's the personalities. The Americans have some promise, but we'll see if they work it out over the course of the season. |

Another enjoyable episode IMO. One thing both shows have is variety. I didn't think V12 was worth extra 60k. Evo does handle better than old 9 but isn't as fast. Drift segment was funny. Was hoping blind guy would pull off some drifting as is practices wasn't bad. Did they all really pull into the spot on first try or is this just making it a show?
