I would consider HUD. Its surprisingly useful, especially for nav instructions.
The multi-contour seats can't be beat, unless you want even more aggressive bolsters with the sport seats. But the multi-contour can really squeeze in as well. Also, I don't think running boards can be gotten with M Sport, only the Sport Activity.

I took delivery on my 50i a couple months ago, Alpine white over black interior. Unless you are really worried about fuel economy go with the 50i for the joy of driving. I test drove the 35 before the 50i and it was a completely different ride performance wise. Have you test driven both? You are buying "the ultimate driving machine". Also, have you seen or sat in the 3rd row seats? They are a joke(unless you really need them), a small child can't sit in the seats comfortably nevermind an adult. I was also pondering the active steering but opt'd out of it because after test driving one it didn't seem to make that much of a difference and I used the extra cash on something else......Keep us informed of your decisions. Best of luck!!

As I have mentioned a few times before, the 50i fuel consumption is noticeably higher than the 35i especially in the city. So if you want more power and do not mind paying for more gasoline then go for the 50i otherwise the 35i (or 35d for that matter) will do the job for you very ably.

I forgot to put comfort seats- ordering those also
The 3rd row seats is for my child so it can be small no problem I have not test driven the 5.0 but I did test drive the 3.5. It really just comes down to price and how it plays out Anything else??? The active steering is for the stifness I was feeling and how hard it was to make a U-turn in the X5 compared to my current 535 Thanks for all the feedback- any suggestions on trim with the cinammon interior???? Thanks Yusuf Thanks |

I'm sure the 3.5 is a big upgrade from the 3.0 they had in the 08's it was a dog compared to the 4.8 which is very fast. I believe the 3.5 is a straight 6 turbo, similar to the twin turbo introduced in the 08 335's. We had an 08 335xi and it is fast 4.9 to 5.0 Zero to 60. So I'm sure that the 3.5 performs a lot better than the old 3.0. |

I have a 50i white/cinnamon/bamboo on order. My friend has a Vermillion red with cinnamon and it looks great. I second the HUD comments, but if you are trying to keep the price with in reason, definitely one thing to drop. Multi-contour seats are A+. Only get third row if you are really going to use it. Its expensive and the seats are tiny. Bring the kids to the dealer and make them get in and out and see how it works. I was going to get it for my now 7 month old son for the future, but after seeing it, it makes our Acura MDX 3rd row seem spacious which isn't saying much. X

Since you're not getting lane departure warning I would consider the climate comfort windcreen.
If you have kids you may also want to consider the soft close door option. Are you getting Nappa leather? If not you should note that the third row seats with be leatherette. Not sure why you want the 20" wheels but note that these are perfomance tires and will not be all great in the winter and snow. Quote:

Same combo I have, AW Cinnamon, I liked the Bamboo color wise with the interior, but didn't like the stripy horizontal lines in it, looked at the light trim and put it side by side with the cinnamon and didn't like how it looked, so went with the Dark Burl - pics attached (sorry, it is hard to photograph the leather, it always comes out more orange than it really is)

thanks for the pics- lets see what happens with the trim colors- think i need to see it side by side- active steering is just to make the car a little softer for the wifey when she drives it- currently have a 535 and its a much softer steering wheel (turning wise) than the X5

Climate comfort windscreen is not available in the USA. Nappa is a smoother, softer leather. Adds ~$2K to get, you can also get a leather covered dash for $1900 more, but if you are trying to spend wisely, skip both. Quote:
Seems like a lot of scratch for something that decreases steering effort at low speed...maybe buy a set of little gripper strength thingy's and call it a day... X

Active steering is expensive but worth it in my book. I drove one back to back to one without it. One minute thru a parking lot convinced me. I think it would be especially useful with 20s.

Climate comfort windscreen is available as a special order item as well as soft close doors if your dealer is willing to put in the effort. I have an x5d on order but opting for lane departure deletes climate comfort.
You'd be surprised what you can get if you're willing to put in the effort and do the research. Since you want cinnamon interior the nappa is out of the question.
