software recall

Haven't heard any local people mentioned...

I was scheduling a winter tire change and the service desk mentioned a software recall too...will be doing both.

For DCT? or do you have more info. My car was just in for service a couple of weeks ago and there was no mention, but I dont have DCT.

That makes sense - be sure to post up what you find out. I havent been on here quite as much as late and hadnt heard about the current DCT issues on the main board.

ahhh....called the service desk...they couldn't provide much detail.

Just a description saying its a US program recall.

I guess i have to wait till my appointment to find out.

PERFORM THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN THIS SERVICE INFORMATION ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES THE NEXT TIME THEY ARE IN THE SHOP FOR MAINTENANCE OR REPAIRS AND PRIOR TO RETAIL DELIVERY.

SUBJECT
Service Action: Program Control Units (DCT)

MODEL
E82, E88, E89, E90, E92, E93 vehicles with DCT transmission produced from 1/08/2008 to 8/31/2010

SITUATION
Due to errors in the diagnostic software of the DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) module, the "Freeze frame data" of the DCT memory can not be read out when using aftermarket scan tools.

CAUSE
DCT software error

AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves E90, E92, E93 M3 vehicles with the S65 engine and DCT transmission and E82, E88, E89, E92, E93 vehicles with N54/N54T engine and DCT transmission which were produced from 01/08/2008 up to 08/31/2010.

In order to determine whether a specific vehicle has had this Service Action completed or is affected by this Service Action, first check the B-pillar label for code number 575. If code number 575 has been punched out, the campaign has already been performed. If code number 575 has not been punched out, it will be necessary to utilize the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or the Key Reader. Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no further action.

PROCEDURE
Program the vehicle using ISTA/P 2.39.0 or a more recent version.
E8x/E9x – Integration level (new): E89x-10-09-501 or higher.
Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

ok...did the program update.

The description is:
complaint: E8X E9x US program control units (DKG control unit)

cause: bulletin 28 80 10 0028010100 program DKG

correction:
connect to ISSS and program vehicle with CAS
defect code 00 28 01 01 00
Labour operation: 00 59 718
Labour allowance: 9 FRU
AMP fail and reprogram

Still not sure what it is... but some of my Idrive setting had been resetted.

The November 1 post is what actually been done to the car and on the description of my invoice.

The Oct 22 post is what i have found on some post in the main forum.

I did a search on DKG control unit and i think its the DCT.

I just had my car serviced and there were two software updates. Car runs great afterwards and shift light still work.

Just got mine done today...

Car holds gears a little longer - that is - it doesn't want to shift right into 7th at 40kmh anymore. Also, I noticed that it downshifts more when speed slows as opposed to just before stopping. No other noticeable differences. All iDrive settings were intact other than my saved addresses in navigation.

I noticed that too. I heard a rev blip in the drive (D) mode downshift as well which did not happen before.
