DTC display

so i notice while driving around turns at moderate speeds the DTC displays briefly......

is that an indicator that the DTC is "working" or is this something i should be concerned about?

again, it only flashes briefly

thats normal during spirited driving it means it's working, you can press the DTC button and the car will let you have a little more fun and if you press and hold the button you can turn the system off completely and have a lot of fun

thanks! not sure if i'm ready for THAT much fun...yet

i also found this on another board....

"If the DSC kicks in for whatever reason (losing traction due to ice, gravel, hard driving), it'll flash a little light, looks like an ! inside a triangle inside a circle. Best i can describe it. Anyways, it's perfectly normal and just means you're driving her the way she's meant to be driven"

I press the button and it light's up on the instrument cluster that it's been 'sorta' disabled. I press and hold it to TOTALLY disable it, but nothing happens. Is there supposed to be a chime or something?

I was under the impression that the traction/stability control was either on or off in "M" cars, i dont think there is a sorta off

Samjam is right. On M-cars it's on or off... no middle ground. When the icon is displayed on the dash, it's off. On non-M-cars you do the quick press for the middle setting and press/hold for fully off.

That all sounds correct to me. I leace my DTC fully functional for day to day around town driving.

Too bad I can't program the car to say, when DTC is disabled: "Danger Danger, Will Robinson!!"

Cheers!!

Technically, it's not totally Off because ABS is still engaged (I believe the earlier generation ///M coupes you could turn the ABS off too...but I may be mistaken)

I always turn mine completely off unless it has just started raining, is raining hard or the once or twice I have gotten caught in a freak snow.

I don't mind that I can't turn ABS off. I think that technology has gotten so good that it's better than what I and most enthusiasts can do manually. Plus, there really isn't an argument for turning that off as there is for turning off skid control---it's not like locking up the wheels and having a longer braking distance is fun, whereas going sideways (intentionally) is very.
