Oregon Raceway Park - HPDE/Lapping Day with ORPCA
Two weekends ago, KM3, Aarodynamics and myself headed down to Oregon Raceway Park for a weekend of driving. Oregon Raceway Park is brand new race track (it's been open for 2 seasons) in the middle of nowhere Oregon and is a 5-hour drive from Seattle.
This was our first time there and we were all fairly excited as people around here are calling it "possibly the best racetrack on the West Coast"... Well, we were not disappointed. Although it is literally in the middle of wheat fields, the track is phenomenal: Super smooth pavement, lots of elevation change, many blind and off camber corners. In summary, very challenging and technical but oh so rewarding. The first day was an instructed HPDE. The second was an open lapping day. We all had a grand time and cannot wait to go back next year. In the mean time, here are a couple of in-car videos (sorry for the crappy sound, turn down the volume) and photos. KM3 is in the black E92 M3 and Aarodynamics is in the super quick E46 330Ci ZHP Lapping Day video: part 1 [u2b]tf9eBx4CG-k&hd=1[/u2b] Lapping Day video: part 2 [u2b]ZCojV30WOMw&hd=1[/u2b] Track from the paddock: Sunset from the track:

Great video and nice driving. It was fun finally going for a ride-a-long with you
Ditto on it being an awesome weekend; one I'll definitely never forget. Here's another video as I followed KM3 and FrenchBoy around ORP (thanks again for letting me borrow the CruiseCam mount): [u2b]jzRq2QBmdTo&hd=1[/u2b] |

A super smooth track
Challenging to say the least. I heard several of the instructors say that it is one of the most challenging tracks on the West Coast.
Blacktop might as well be velvet it is soooooooo smooth. Great day... not much wind and not too hot. Looking forward to going again! |

Ah ah. In that particular instance, it's more like StopTech Trophy kit > Stock Brakes with pads. And driver skill of course ;-)

What a great looking track, that surface looks so smooth! Thanks for sharing.
I just came back from Sebring where pieces of concrete were breaking off in Turn 17 and creating a upright speed bump Had a blast though.
