Hyundai Genesis vs. 335?
With all the talk about Mustangs vs. the M3, wouldn't the Huyndai vs. the 335 make an interesting comparison?
I realize this is an M3 vs. section, but it seems like so many 335 owners want to match anything that can go 0-60 fast against the M3, so why not match the Genesis against the 335? If anything, it might make a closer comparison than some of the cars that have been pitted against the M3 lately. The Genesis has gotten some pretty amazing reviews, has a great warranty, JD Powers rates Hyundai right up with some of the best these days, and the performance is terrific. |

Hyundai makes some solid cars. I'd say they're the emerging Toyota, a new maker of appliances that just happen to have 4 wheels.
I don't know the specs on the Hyundai but I would really be surprised if it had the grunt and road manners of the 335i. |

The Koreans are definately stepping up their game. Fairly impressive for generally young companies. My only complaint about the Genesis is that it looks like a total rip off of an E class. Besides that, impressive car.

The Genesis and Mustang don't have the of luxury or presence the 335i or M3 have in regards to being GT. You can tell that the M3 is $70k, 335i is $50k and the v6 Genesis and v8 Mustang are $30k.
That said, I wouldn't mind buying the Mustang 5.0 GT for a dragster and the Genesis for a track car...they would be guiltless fun...not DDers. |

The Genesis is no match to the 335 in many aspects but price. It is a solid sports car that needs a lot of polish, especially ride quality. And it isn't particularly fast.

I parked behind one today and must admit - It's not half bad...
Would rather have it over a f-ing disgustingly ugly Lexus or a pos, cheap, problem-ridden Toyota - any day of the week.

Anywhere outside of North America, Hyundai's are considered decent cars since the 90's. It took them 10 years for N. America to acknowledge their products.

Yup, it was published as a possibility by Motor Trend in one of their monthlies. I might actually get an opportunity to talk to a Hyundai engineer this weekend, as one is dropping by a family's business. Highly unlikely given my schedule, but if I do get time to drop by as well, I imagine I'd ask him "V8, really?", "when?" and "why did it take so long for Hyundai to make something like the Genesis Coupe?".

Hyundai has come a long way over the years...especially when you consider you can trace the "roots" of the Genesis back to the Scoupe in the early 90's.

the Genesis Coupe 3.8 looks great but seems like more of a competitor to the Infiniti G37 than to be seriously considered against the 335, although I could see some cross-shopping between even the Gen Coupe and 335 with "normal" (non-enthusiast) buyers
