I'll be there in my Green E36 M3 with a CF hood and spoiler and SD plates. I'm leaving in about an hour or less. I'm already packed.

The weather was great, although a little on the warm side at least the humidity is down. It was a good event and no one bent any sheet metal that I'm aware of. I had two students, one in a E90M3 6MT and one in a 135. Both guys did great and we had a good time. We did have a MDM save at the dangerous turn 17 when we got in too narrow once. There were about 4 or 5 E9xM3s there.
The removed the temporary building from its location and now the only building is the permanent one with the big garages at the bottom of the hill. It's makes for very poor logistics because the one paved parking lot is too small for all the students plus all the instructors. Therefore the instructors have a long walk to the building from the gravel parking lot near the hot pits for lunch or the facilities. I hope they build another building for club use further up the hill to replace the temp building.

The word is that Monticello will be shutting its doors to driving clubs and organizations. Apparently, there are drivers who are going multiple times per year (nothing wrong with that) through visiting clubs and the members are getting pissed off that if those drivers are using the track that much, they should join the club (I can understand that too!).
Maybe they will restructure visitors useage to allow clubs in the future where drivers are limited to a certain number of visits? |

While I can understand why the members (who paid $100k to be a member) are upset that some driver's have taken advantage of club schools to get multiple days on the full track. However, it's my understanding that MMC was having some financial difficulties because they didn't get enough members/investers to cover costs and therefore the income from the club rentals helped MMC keep afloat. I did 4 days at MMC this year. Seems as if the members are being a bit short-sighted IMHO. It's probably good not to overlook the amount of cash that school folks spent downtown at restaurants, hotels, and gas stations. I'd guess the club members don't spend much in the local economy.
Just some points to ponder. I'd guess that MMC will end up not changing their policy on club rentals for next year and end up renting to clubs again despite that rumors say otherwise. We'll see.

Great Time!!
It was a Blast!!...my first time at Monticello...it was a nice technical course...and LONG!....I had a GREAT instructor who was patient...and communicated very well....told what I did right...what i did wrong...how to correct things....each time I went out I got better..never made the same mistake twice...
as far as the track goes....yes the Manager made an announcement that next year (2011) there will be no BMWCCA or other car club events held at the club... they also showed us a special membership for a 25k initiation fee(3k annual thereafter) that allowed you some good track time...I forgot specifically.... and then they had something called track mates...you get a minimum of 5 friends together and for $495 you can go mid-week for a day...or something to that effect. here's a picture of a 600+hp GT-R up my coolie

Too bad the parking lot is to small for everyone. As an instructor I prefer hanging out and meeting everyone.

They should at least pave that upper lot if they will keep on having driving clubs over. It's a mess, and you can't really do any work on the car.
