New Wheels
Hi,
So after my 2008 128 was taken from me so suddenly ( Hit a Moose ), I decided to ignore all the bad press about the HPFP issues and so on and I ordered a 2011 135I Msport in DSB. The car is in the counrty so it should be here within a week or so and I was lucky and found a six speed which was exactly what I was looking for. Will post pics when the car arrives. |

No reports yet of a failing HPFP in an N55 so you may be in the clear for that issue! You're going to love it, you may even thank the moose!

Sorry to hear about the accident. How did the 1er handle the crash with the moose, that is one thing that has always bothered me about driving the 1er.

We used to have a slang word for what DSB meant which I think has its origins in the military. You'll have to google it (try DSB slang) to find out.

Can tell who is Canadian by all the moose talk :P
that must have been scary as hell, those things are big! I hit a deer once in a jeep and i was thinking "lucky it wasn't a moose!!!" I'm also interested to hear how the 1 series held up to the hit. And of course how you held up...... sorry you lost your car. but sometimes it's an excuse to upgrade |

You've been bothered by how the 135i handles moose collisions? I think you should be more bothered by the moose problem where you live, if that's a concern!

I hear about people hitting cows often here too. That one suprises me the most though. The farmers get big fines if one of their cows get hit. |

Sorry for the late response. ( Havent been on in a while ). The car actually held up pretty well all things considered. The windshield post being a european car held its own and didnt collapse with the roof which stopped the moose from coming into the car and right where I was sitting. Also lucky was the airbag didn't deploy as I ducked thinking the worst and probably would have been hurt pretty bad by the airbag hitting me in the face. As for myself, only a few cuts from the drivers window which shattered. I hold that the car is what saved me from being seriously hurt or killed as the tow truck driver said that just the night before, a guy in a Toyota Camry hit one also about the same size ( about 6 feet at the hip ) and the moose came into the car crushing him.

No really! She was carving her initials on the moose with the sharpened end of an interspace toothbrush given her by Svenge - her brother-in-law - an Oslo dentist and star of many Norwegian movies: "The Hot Hands of an Oslo Dentist", "Fillings of Passion", "The Huge Molars of Horst Nordfink". |

I was expecting this to be about new wheels for the car.
At least the accident ends up leaving you in a better place. The upgrade Moose?

Well most of our highways run through moose habitat, and there is no way around it. So yeah, I do think about how a car would take an impact with either a moose or a dear.
