50i vs 35i Sport

I wanted to get some input on why i should get either version, 50i vs 35i sport. What made some of you choose the 50i over the 35i or 35i over 50i.

I know the main difference between the 2 which is the engine. I should say why i want an x5 or what it will be used for... which is space (cargo and interior *******, and minor hauling possibly some jet skis or possibly a motorcycle that i am looking to buy sometime in the future. does the 35i have sufficient power for that?

I wouldn't want to tow with the 35i. Id go for the X5d if you really want to tow. At that, anything over 4000 lbs will suck to tow with the X5d. Torque is what you want for towing, and 425 lbft at 1700 rpm is real truck torque. However, none of these have solid rear axles, which is what you want for towing much over 5000 lbs or so. Two jet skis or a motorcycle is no biggie, but if you want to tow a boat, this may not be the car for you.

For towing routinely, the 35d or 50i will be the better choice.

But if you're only towing occasionally, you can still make do with the 35i.

For routine towing, the X5d would edge the 50i, simply from a gas mileage standpoint. With 4000 lbs on it's butt, I bet the 50i would struggle to make 15 mpg. I'd put the X5d about 18. But either would be better than the 35i.

i think i am leaning more towards the 35i. i am not exactly sure if i will be towing for sure, and if i do it will not be heavy loads. Gas mileage is important to me and i think i would rather get a fully loaded 35i over a 50i with not too many options

For gas mileage, why not go x5d? $4500 rebate made it cheaper than the 35i
