They were not available in the USA.
Canada & Euro cars were the only ones to get them.

They fold, but not automatically.

Like InTgr8r said, auto folding mirrors were never available in the US on the Z4.

Ron Stygar did a retrofit on his car, so it is possible if you really want to do it.
