the hidden BC menu in my 135i is reporting the battery voltage as 12.2-12.3

Thanks

Running or with the engine off? For engine off, this is OK. For running, it is too low. How do you get to a "hidden BC menu"?

I check cars for a working alternator by checking the voltage at the battery with the engine running. If it is not over 13V, I conclude the alternator is not working.

That is with the engine Off. I will have to check with the engine on later today. Thank you for the information

There is a guide located here to access the hidden BC menu:

Unloaded, a 6-cell lead-acid battery has an output of 12.63V, 2.105V per cell.
