Sep build with Sep delivery?
Does anyone know if it's possible to order a September build car (to get the new features) and get delivery by September 30th delivery at PCD (in order to take advantage of the $1,000 gift from bmw for attending the ultimate drive event)?
Thanks! Last edited by atl_1M; 07-17-2010 at 01:38 PM.. Reason: Clarify gift |

Seems unlikely. What are the new features that aren't being seen in earlier cars? Model Year 2011 cars started building in March.

Your dealer has build spots. Only the dealer knows.Typically it takes six-ten weeks. I live on the West Coast so the boat takes 23-25 days from Bremerhaven. Scheduled for production to actual production takes two-three weeks. One week before sailing. You mentioned the gift. I assume you mean a piece of paper from the dealer, and not an outright gift for your birthday or some other evident. I suspect you CA will be your best bet and not from somebody on this forum.

I placed a mid-Sept 09 order and got a Nov 09 build with a late Nov 2009 (Thanksgiving week to us) ED delivery. Unfortunately, due to the holidays the PCD was almost 2 months (to the day) later.

Thanks for the responses.
Looking at the email I got for the $1000 incentive, it just says to stop by your dealer before Sep 30th to receive the reward. I know on some other forums, ppl mentioned taking delivery by sep 30th. Any CAs or dealers on here that know the real answer? |

I'm in the same situation. I did the Ultimate Drive thing this week and ordered today. Per my CA, I would need to take delivery by 9-30 to use the $1,000 "gift". He said there is a very slight chance I would get the car before 9-30, no chance if I do PCD which I want to do. Wait and see I guess.

You guys should call or write BMW NA and ask them! It is their piece of ($1K) gift paper. I am sure they can bend the rules a little bit. And if all else fails just start to moan t them!

Sept. build and delivered seems unlikely. I ordered mine in June / July (can't remember) - was expected to be delivered week 36 (week of 6 September). Apparently production is on hold during August, which means mine will be build in September. Expecting delivery around the 20th of October - and that's for shipping to Belgium, which is next to Germany.

That gift from BMW is a marketing ploy. Your CA will know. Only a CA lurking on this site has a better answer. The odds of building a car and delivering the car to Georgia in thirty days is highly improbable.

How is factory cash a marketing ploy? It's $1000 - no one said you have to order a car. If you pick from ANY dealer's inventory, you get the same $1000 on anything but the 5-series. Plus, some dealerships had their drive events MONTHS ago.

He must have missed the page that says you're not allowed to use the internet if you're a CA.
Anyway, the UDE $1000 credit must be delivered by the 30th, sept prod cars will not hit the west coast until the beginning of october. |

4 to 6 weeks is what you should expect.
