The newest addition to my BMW family
Finally got it washed (it's been raining a bunch lately). It already had the tinted windows which you really need for the summers down here. As I said earlier, it's in remarkable condition for a 2.5 year old car as it only has 7,800 miles. I'm sure I'm going to love it.
Now I just need to sell the 3.0si coupe. If anyone is interested, please PM me. http://s799.photobucket.com/albums/y...einOwasso/Z4M/ Here is a link to some pictures. I couldn't get them to load directly. Sorry about the incovenience.

Congrats... but we need pics!
If the pics are too big for uploading to Bimmerpost, try putting them on something like Photobucket and linking to that.

It's funny how the OP was, for a while, trying to defend the 3.0si and how awesome it was compared to our Ms... but then eventually got an M himself.
I guess he came to his senses. Congrats to the OP in any case. |

Wait. What happened to the 3.0si being bettet due to gas mileage, insurance, comfort, trunk space for golf bags yada yada?
Congrats though and glad you've seen the light. Would've been cheaper to do it right in the first place.

LOL, I still like the 3.0si and it has some great attributes. However, there is no substitute for hp, giant cross drilled rotors, more supportive seats, etc. I'll give up a few mpg and a little trunk space in exchange for those things. By the way, I think I have a working link above now.

I ended up paying $31.6k before taxes for the M. Seemed like a hell of a deal to me for one with such low mileage and considering its condition.

Well... you could not have chosen a better colour combo. It's an exact twin to my Emma.
Now... go race a 370Z |

When I was trying to sell my Z4 coupe with 15K miles, I couldn't even get $26K for it. Ended up trading for $24K, which, given the reduction in taxes paid, would have been the equivalent of a ~$25,800 private sale. No brainer for me. Anyway GLWS. Don't know how things are in OK, but I found Z4 coupes to be in pretty low demand. |

Two preventive things to do as soon as convenient:
Put lockwashers and locktite on the rear sway bar bracket bolts Replace all 8 engine mount bolts with grade 10.9 bolts, loctitie, and make sure they are all torqued to 28 ft. lbs. If you keep the grade 8.8 bolts (not recommended), torque to only 20 ft. lbs. |

Congrats on the M!
I'd like to hear your thoughts on the difference in ride, comfort, shift feel, DD use, etc. between the 3.0si and the M. Obviously the M has a lot more power! I'm asking since I am trying to decide between an M and a 3.0si for my needs. Thanks! |

1. The M is obviously faster but I haven't driven it under conditions yet to show it's full potential. Around town and especially with the sport button depressed, the 3.0si is plenty peppy. 2. The seats are more supportive but not necessarily more comfortable. I found that you can't put the sport seats as far back as the regular ones. If you put them back to the point where they touch the bulkhead between the passenger area and the rear, they make an annoying squeak. I'm just over 6 feet tall and if you are much taller, the 3.0si will provide a more comfortable sitting position. 3. The engine in the M SOUNDS much more powerful, especially at higher RPM's. I like the smoothness of the 3.0si and it rev's very quickly. The M is a little louder but you can tell it means business. 4. The suspensions are similar but I think after I put the non run-flat tires on my 3.0si, it's probably just slightly softer than the M. 5. I prefer the feel of the hydraulic steering of the M but I can't say it is as big of an issue as many have made it out to be. In the sport mode the 3.0si feel is pretty decent--especially with the M sport wheel that I had put on 6 months ago. 6. I may have to use the passenger seat area for my golf clubs since I can't fit both my clubs and my push cart in the back of the M like I could in the 3.0si. Oh well, something had to give. 7. It looks like mileage will be about 10-20% lower in the M but that was expected. The 3.0si is very efficient.
