2011 Quattroporte S
hi,
this isn't really a versus at all but we are looking at getting a 2011 quattroporte s (4.7) and was wondering if anybody on here has a 2010 with any feedback or recommendations - need a new sedan for the family. It's this or the 2011 XJL s/c, tried the s400 hybrid for a few days (it's out). any help is greatly appreciated, reliability and quirks and all firsthand reviews would be very helpful.

I've only driven the standard 4.2 Quattroporte and all the complaints I had about it (mainly lack of power and not good enough handling) seem to be corrected by the "S" model. I think the car is beautiful, but I've rarely see them driven as dailies. I live in a condo building and 4 of my neighbors have Maseratis and they mainly just sit. A friend of mine has one too and he drives it about 3ooo miles / year since it's a pain to get it serviced.

Hey fucker if your family gets it you better let me take it for a spin!
I would also test drive the Jaguar XKR ! The Maserati is more exclusive and good looking but the XKR is fast (supercharged V8) and a beautiful spinoff of an Aston...

Panamera is pretty hot too. The Turbo is roughly the same price and way quicker.

looked at the xkr, always liked it, but we cant have another two door, need a sedan in the house....looking at the xj s/c has the same drivetrain though. find the interior of the xk shitty compared to the new xj, also. thanks, well it would be a daily and it would see the snow. thanks for the panamera choice, not really interested in it - not our cup of tea. we are test driving the s this week - not interested in the 4.2 for the price and drive difference. thanks again for the input.

This body-style has been out for a LONG time. Just something to consider. And for that reason maybe you will want to look at e63, Panamara turbo, or something else.

Did you consider the X6M/X5M?

What about the XFR? I think it's a class smaller, and isn't that big at the back - But what a car!
Also, if I could afford the panamera I would consider it, warty looks and all. I mean, that's got to be quite a drive, seriously. Would be terrified of letting my kids in the thing though, messing up the white leather I'd HAVE to choose. |

XFR is pretty nice. I considered it before I ordered my M3. I ended up going with the M3 mainly because it was a little lighter and first year for the XFR under new ownership created some nervousness on my part.

Everytime I see one on the road and look at the back end of the car, in my mind I go "WHY PORSCHE WHY??" Front looks like a Corvette rip-off, though.

hey buddy,
be careful with the Maserati...beautiful car, looks and sounds great but they have a lot of issues, at least up until now they have. I know at least 3-4 people with them, and the older they are the worse they are. But even the newest, being a 2008 or 2009 model still has some issues. I dont have specifics, but it just has a lot of problems and is always beign taken in for services/repair. The same goes (but worse) for the older generations. Panamera is nasty as shit. X5M/X6M is a winner IMO

Maserati is due for a model change, 2012 if I am not wrong.
I have a friend with a 2005 Quattroporte, lots of issues....everytime he hits a pothole, a bunch of sensors go crazy and needs towing to the dealer...very fragile. I would seriously consider the Jag XJ for the money.

Simple solution... buy a Ferrari 458 Italia. Maserati's are piles of shit... all they do is sound good. They are just Ferrari wannabes.

Also, if you don't mind something a little more "low rent", might I suggest the CTS-V.
I've been very pleased with it so far

You guys are sitting here bashing the Panamera--I think it's ugly as well, but it's an amazing drive. The Turbo will blow the doors off any of the cars mentioned in this thread and will arguably drive better as well. Who cares if it's ugly? It's about the way it drives.
I used to be the same way about the E9X M3. I thought it was absolutely hideous. But I grew out of that. It's about the way a car drives, not looks. Seriously. |
