When will the e9x M3 stop being produced?

I am preparing to buy an M3 when the lease is up on my 335xi in April of next year (2011). Will they still be producing M3 then or will they have stopped production to prepare for the new 2012 F3x cars? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Officially, no one knows for sure.

Speculatively, the E90 will go through the 2012 model year, so it should be with us until sometime in early 2012. And the E92 and E93 should go through the 2013 model year and thus be in produdction until sometime in 2013.

I'd like to ED an E90 M3 in early spring of 2012. Hopefully it's possible.

I will get it in the Fall of 2011 if I must, but I rather wait since in Boston, I would take US delivery rght as winter starts if I do ED Fall delivery.

You can observe the recent release of the 5 series. About a month after release, the M5 is not available yet and no longer orderable.

Given that this V8 is going away and to be replaced with one of the cookie cutter inline 6 turbos, assuming you want this V8, I'd keep my ear to the ground for when the new 3 series hits the dealers and order before then.

I imagine the M3 Sedan will also come after the coupe/vert. Rumor has it a "Gran Coupe" is destined for the 3 series which actually sounds kind of cool, but your probably looking at 2013 or so for an M3 version of it.

My guess is either mid 2012 or 2013. 2012 means a 4 year run, which is a little shorter than the E46.

Thanks for this. I know it's speculative, but it's helpful just the same.

Spring 2012 will be cutting it close. My guess is that early winter 2012 might be the last ED date, but I could be wrong. Keep your eye on this forum so you don't miss the end of production date.

MY 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 for sedan (5 model years)
MY 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 for coupe (6 model years)

Sedan is tied to the EOP date for the E90/E91 chassis which will happen a year (plus) before the E92/E93 EOP.

Again, my speculation, MHO.

BMW usually shuts down the production line in Aug-Sep to prepare production for the next years models...thus opening the production line in Oct. producing the new models. That being said...the last 2012 M3s will shipped in Aug 2012....Your first 2013 M3s will begin shipment in Sep-Oct of 2012.
