2011 135i, any issues so far?
Hi guys, long time reader, first time poster.
I placed an order for an 2011 (N55) 135i w/ manual and it should be here some time in July. Has anyone encounter any mechanical issues so far such as HPFP, long cranks, rattles or whatever issues you were not content with that it had to be brought back to the stealer? Frankly, I am rather reluctant to actually follow through with the purchase of this new vehicle after reading what most of you have experienced with N54 engine. I understand that 2011 model is still new and many have not driven that much to post anything yet, but please if you could share your experience so far on N55 engine, it would help me a bunch and perhaps others as well. Thanks in advance guys Please specify the mileage if you could Last edited by sardius; 06-09-2010 at 08:25 AM.. |

Hey JB135MDCT, thanks a bunch for the reply. Yeah thinking of doing the break-in oil change too, not sure at what mileage, my guess is around 2K-5K then. Could you elaborate a bit more about the handling imperfections? Btw, what's you mileage now? Thanks!

I'm doing 2k oil change, but should really do a 500-1000 mile. Handling is too soft and the RTFs are shit, you will have to do a search and a lot of reading. I knew this and willing to put in a few $k to fix it.
1500 miles. not a lot, I know. |

Yeah, I have an '11 135 that has now been in the shop for going on 3 weeks. It developed an overheating problem on May 23rd, and I left it at the dealer. They have been trying to diagnose the source of the problem. So far, they have replaced the water pump and radiator with no luck, and currently have a thermostat in transit from Germany (it was backordered last week and should be here in a day or two). I posted in this subforum (135 cooling problems) and nobody else seems to be having this problem. I have a 335 loaner so it's not a big deal, but I miss my car!

Hey wadny I feel ya. Sorry to hear about the overheating problem, I just hope this is an isolated instance and should't be a big deal, but 3 weeks?! What's the mileage?

I'm only at 525 miles on mine but it's been great. No problems (other than those damn runflats feeling like bricks on the pavement).
Plan to oil change at 1500-2000k after break in period. |

No I just had a buddy tell me. It had something to do with the seats. He said I'd get something in the mail if I was affected.

I've got almost 5,000 miles on my 2011 135i MT. No issues. BTW, what handling issues? |

Also just had a BIG issue with the headlights. Went to the car wash and water got into both of them. Took it right to the dealer and they claim its "normal" in some extreme conditions for them to have condensation in them and I'd have to call up BMWNA if I wanted them replaced. I left a bit pissed off but as soon as I pulled out, my drivers side low beam failed so I circled back around and they said there was so much water it burnt out the Xenon bulb. Then I called BMWNA, told them what the deal was and they said both lights would be replaced so they contacted the dealership and everything is squared away... except for the fact the headlights had to come from Germany so I'm waiting 7 days for them to get in and be swapped out. Meanwhile I can't drive anywhere at night because I only have 1 working headlight and it's still full of condensation so it's not bright at all.
