Keep Dust off your car
Like most of you I also spend a lot of time keeping my car clean. At a local classic car show here I purchased "The Original California Car Duster" it is an incredible device and I recommend it highly to reduce car washes and keep your investment clean.
Here is the link in case you have not heard about it. http://calcarduster.com/dusterCombo.asp

I had the duster with my E90 in JB, but it left a lot of small scratches. maybe your color wont show it, but I don't trust it with my DSB.

I would never wipe anything on my car while it had dirt on it. I don't care how soft your duster is, the dirt particles on the car will leave scratch marks. But chinchilla does sound intriguing!

I do use it on the DSB with definite conditions...
Only to wipe off dust, not dirt. Only when there is a good healthy coat of wax. Never use it to remove dirt or road spray. Never use it when the car is in the sun or hot. Always machine wash it after about 4 or 5 uses. Never Never allow any more pressure than the weight of the fringes only. So far I've had no problems but I keep checking never the less. The DSB is an absolutely stunning color but the least bit of dust just robs it of all it's luster from the driver's seat perspective and it drives me crazy. I do like the blue best but I don't think I'd get it next time. I like the red and I find it much more tolerant of dirt and dust. The California Duster is a bit scary but if used with that fear, I think it is great and may in fact prevent some inevitable fine scratching by preventing an accumulation of pollen or road and garage dust which just lays there waiting for someone to rub against it. My personally feeling is that the California Duster is great and it keeps me sane. My recommendation to anyone choosing a color for a new car is to have yourself checked for any trace of OCD and if any is found, avoid Black and DS Blue or you may find your finger tips permanently puckered from waxing. BTY, I use Black Magic Liquid Gold Wax. I think it's the best for avoiding swirls and the worst for removing anything from the surface. |

Dust
To get a thin (emphasis on thin) layer of dust off I use Zaino Z-8 on a plush micro-fiber detailing cloth and wipe as if I were detailing the car after washing it.
Z-8 leaves no smudge marks. |
