DCT Engaging P If Door Opened

Any way to stop that from occurring? Didn't know what the hell was happening the first time when moving at a very low speed I opened the door to reach out and pick up the newspaper at the end of the driveway as I was accustomed to doing with previous roadsters. Yup, that was quite a surprise.

Best regards,
Ed

I noticed that too when I wanted to carefully park inthe garage to back up as I went too close forward. It appears to be a safety feature.

Maybe check with the dealer if they can override. Just a guess.

i love it. pull the e-brake and turn off the car, automatically know it's in park. never needed to move the car with the door open.

you guys obviously didn't read the manual...

Yeah, I find it out annoying when I just want to move the car up or down my driveway a little. Got used to it.

No doubt your previous roadsters had a regular handbrake.

Guess I'm just being thick headed and do apologize for that, but what does an e-brake or a handbrake have to do with wanting to be able to move the car slowly with the door open? Those brakes aren't being used in the circumstances described.

My latest frustration was when I wanted to rotate the wheels 1/2 rev when cleaning them and couldn't observe the rotation with the door open.

Genuinely confused,
Ed

Not being critical - simply an observation. I don't like nanny devices that want to protect us at every turn. I like a standard handbrake that I can apply when and if I want to. The car doesn't need to know when and why I apply it.

Although my car engages P automatically when I turn the engine off it certainly does not when I open the door. Tried it this morning on my drive and nothing changed when I opened the door.

On mine, it would engage P with the door open and my foot off the accelerator. Otherwise, no changes only with the door open.

open the door and let the car roll, it should jump into P

what do you mean "otherwise"? open the door and try to roll the car forward, you can't.

only works with DCT trannys, not sure what cars you guys have.
