Rear bootlid brakelight cover - 3 week wait?

Hi all,

Just thought I'd ask to see if anyone else thinks this is a little weird.....

My rear brakelight cover ont he 135i has just cracked all the way through--- I have tape holding it together before the hairline cracks makes it pop off...... anyway as I know this is a very common problem on these cars I went to the dealer (in Darwin) and thought fine they should have heaps in stock in Australia...... as its such a common fault.

They also confirmed it was a common problem with them and said it would be covered under warranty.....

They called me the next day to say it would be a 3 week wait as they had to order the part from Germany?????????
No stock in Australia for such a common problem?

Probably because it is so common they have none left... My car is booked in to have it looked at too at the moment.

3 week wait seems like bullshit to me... though it might be different for Darwin. My SA said it's available on the same day.

Also, mine has tape holding it together as well

so has SA dealer replaced it for you yet?

I might ring again... it does sound like bs... same day.. i wouldnt expect that in Darwin for sure, but I wouldnt have thought three weeks..

That's BS. Ask them to take one off a 1er on the showroom floor.

I haven't taken my car in yet, but it is going in for service on Thursday at which point it will be replaced. My SA even admitted that it was a problem with 1er coupes/verts so they keep some in stock.

thankfully it hasnt fallen off yet and you cant see the tape much....

but living in Darwin doesnt giving me the luxury of getting them to do that for me... none on the shoroom floor... although they are getting a 123d soon apparently....

but yes sounds like bs for sure from what you have all said.
