Quite Rare or All Hiding
Week before last was on west coast traveled between Dana Point, about 60 miles south of LA and Camarillo, about 60 miles north of LA, never saw another E89.
Last week took a road trip, from upstate SC traveled to Clearwater Beach, on to Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, and Naples, then across to east coast to Weston and West Palm Beach before retuning to SC. Logged about 1600 miles and never saw another E89. Drove straight through from West Palm Beach to upstate SC on Saturday, 718 miles, 11 hours behind the wheel and quite comfortable the entire way. Did get nabbed in southern Georgia, 85 in a 70, direct laser hit so no chance to react with warning from my Valentine One. Am rather lucky as I had just dropped down from 110 moments earlier, frustrated by a "left-laner." Entire trip mileage came in at 27.3 mpg. |

Must have just missed me. I spend a fair amount of time driving Hwy 1 between Malibu and Camarillo. No tickets yet Passport 9500ix has saved me several times. Mileage is 25 mpg overall.

Same question...
Three Weeks ago - I spent a week in California visiting my Mom and sister.. I too was surprised to not see more E89's.. (Or for that matter, ANY!)
From Coronado to LA to San Luis, I did not see a single one. Then when I finally went to a Dealer in San Luis, they didnt even have one on the lot!! Finally saw one in Morro Bay parked by the marina. With the awesome weather - I thought it would be a perfect place to enjoy the top down.. The speeding tickets I would have would probably be a different story.. I guess Germany is not so bad, as once the sun comes out the Autobahn is the place to be.. Last edited by LofgrenCL; 04-26-2010 at 12:26 PM.. Reason: spelling |

Only seen one other E89 here in CT, but plenty of older Z4s and the place is overdosing on Boxsters. I kind of enjoy the exclusivity actually.

cdeslandes, what part of CT?? i've only seen a black one in greenwich, DRJASON is the other but he's far from me. i'm easy to pick out because i'm probably the only blue E89 being driven by me with a baseball cap, top down, music blasting and doing 80 on I-95

I just think they are pretty rare due to the economy and pricing. Not too many people willing to drop $55k+ and up for a two-seater convertible.

I'm in Newtown, Fairfield County. Most of my driving so far has been to the airport in Hartford and back, and local jaunts to experiment with the car's handling on local country roads.

That's in Westport, right? Where did you get your car? Got mine in Ridgefield; haven't decided where to have it maintained yet.

Here in Pittsburgh I have not come across another E89. I've seen a couple of the older Z's in and around. It is nice to be different. On my way to work yesterday, I passed two Audi TTs (The new model) that were driving within 4 cars of each other. I had to laugh...
