Rubber seals maintenance

This is my first convertible, so I've never had to worry about roof seals.

What products/techniques do you guys use or recommend to maintain the various rubber seals?

You want to use a good German product called Gummi Pflege. Many sources on the web carry it here's one.

I bought BMW Gummi Pflege at the dealer. A spraycan, spraying on a piece of cloth and aply.

what about for the roof? Do you just spray it when the roof is up or when its in the open trunk, open and split?

I don't think you should spray directly on the rubberseals.
The instruction is a bit vague.
I did every rubber seal when the top was down and then i had do do something else, so i'm not sure if there are some more seals that hides somewhere. But I "felt" like i got them all. Have to check later.

The top was in the trunk and the trunk open.

It's a lot of rubber on this car.

I do mine in multiple positions between parially open to nearly full stowed to get all the seals. Gummi your door, bonnet, and trunk seals as well. Keeps the squeaks and groans minimized. Wipe off the excess it will last for a month or two depending on ambient temp.

I have used Aerospace 303 protectant to maintain rubber seals and protect against UV etc

Rubber seals

I didn't use anything fancy. My top was squeaking while in the up position.

Used silicone spray wiped on with a rag on the roof seals that mate against the car with the top up. Worked like magic. No more squeaks.

Partially lowered the top to apply to the seals. Took all of 5 minutes.

The manual recommends against using silicon-based products on the seals.

So yesterday I found 5 or 6 more rubberseals when putting the roof halfway up.

I think 2 times per year will be enough to keep them in good condition. I hope!

Again, though, the owners manual says:

Rubber Seals
Treat only with water or rubber care products.
<!> Do not use silicon-containing care products on rubber seals; otherwise, noise and damage could occur.
