I didn't realize that this would not fit my car when I purchased it. Decided to keep my BMW Performance setup rather than modifying this to make it work. Knob, boot and clips are in perfect condition. PM offers.

because of the shift boot ring layout due to the 3 extra buttons on the center console in M3?

Not to threadjack your thread but I would like to know:
If I buy BMW Performance alcantera shift boot, will it work for my M3 or no?
(It sounds like if M3 doesn't fit on your 3er, I can't use BMW Performance boot on my M3 either).

No worries. The ring on the M boot is smaller, so it won't fit out of the box. You may be able to separate the boot from the ring and attach it to yours to make it work.
