Chrysler 300 SRT-8 is Garbage, But Very Fast.

I know Chryslers are crap, but I had one fly by me today on the HWY. I wasn't in my M3, but rather my 382 HP Sequoia. I flew past the 300 not trying to race or anything and then as all of a sudden he floored it from about sixty. His car was like a rocket. The sound was actually scary, almost like a NASCAR car. I wonder if the 6.1 liter with 425 hp is faster than our M3 in the 1/4 mile. I know it doesn't matter, but I am curious.

if you ever tried to drag race a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, you might be in for a surprise, especially its 60" times

Pointless conversation. Just another modded Vs stock argument either way. I'm sure a full blown M3 will out run a blown 300 but this isn't a everyday scenario.

I am aware that the SRT-8's are fast, but so is the M-3.

I am curious if a stock M-3 can outrun a stock 300 SRT-8 in the 1/4 mile.

425 hp and about 4100 lb vs. 414 hp and about 3700 lb. That is about a 7% better power to weight. Not tough to figure who will win just about any race given equivalent drivers/driving.

The 300 has over 400 ft/lbs of torque as well. I think it would be pretty close.

I just googled this. The SRT-8 is a 13.0 second car - occasionally, slightly faster.

I wouldn't be worried about it

The 300 C SRT-8 0-200 KMH is 18.8 seconds, while the M3 is 15.2 seconds

The M3 is noticeably faster....check this link:

To be honest, the 300C SRT-8 is more of a 335i competitor.

Thanks! This guy's car must have been heavily modded. I swear it sounded like a Nascar car.

Torque (at the crank) does not really matter nor does it win races. It is fun but it is not the best indicator of a cars performance. Gearing really matters if you want to talk about torque, i.e. torque to the wheels not torque at the crank. Cars with lower torque specs but with high rpm redlines are natural companions (e.g. M3). Such cars typically have a tremendous torque multiplication effect in through their gear ratios. So really it is the ability to produce torque at the wheels over a long period of time that really matters. The simplest way to express this prior statement is simply hp. Then add in the obvious weight effect.

Power to weight rules, it is that simple.

I actually ran into a SRT8 charger and we both took off from 65+ to 155mph and I was ahead by 6-7 cars. I'm completely stock.

I am @ around 400whp in my 335i, and I have come against SRT-8's a couple times....They are rockets for their large sizes, but stock SRT-8's couldn't touch my slightly modded 335i other than at launch (No LSD ). Stock 335i vs SRT 8? SRT-8, of course.

Sorry I have to claim BS on the size of your kill. I don't doubt a stock M3 will beat a stock SRT8 Charger but not by the margin you claimed sorry.

That car comes with an automatic so unless he was trying to "shift" using the tip tronic feature it be hard to claim a bad driver case. Regardless nice kill. Maybe he was trying to see where his car was in the food chain.

Lol. Perhaps. He was coming up very quickly and as he was about to pass me I decided "why not?" and pressed the accelerator down and downshifted. I pulled really hard at that moment. Maybe he "wasn't ready" but after about 110mph I only creeped away. Nonetheless, it's a quick car for what it is.

300 SRT-8's aren't particularly fast stock. A lightly tuned 335 beats it. Its nothing special.

Jeep SRT8's are cheap to mod and throw down good power stock. I'm pretty sure they'll stomp the e46's at least from a dig (AWD could probably beat the e92) but I don't see them taking the M3's from a 60+ mph run.
