Hey there..so a group of us went to the Speed Ventures venue at Willow Springs. For most of us it was our first time. I don't have a video camera/ GoPro, but it would of been terribly boring anyways as I was just trying to learn my lines; it's harder than it looks!
Meet up with Alex/Splinter with the Silverstone M3 and Johnny - Black E92 M3 with Vanguard exhaust at Starbucks stop #1. The sun hadn't come up yet and this shot was handheld at 1/10 sec *flex* Starbucks stop #2 Met up with Octavio .. #6 with the pro tape job. Getting to the track in Rosamond California. Shot of part of the track. I had the toughest time finding my line on turn 4 (turn at the very top by the bleachers). Registering and orientation. The guy on the very right is the owner of Speed Ventures. My coche. Next time I go I'm definitely going to tape up the entire rocker cuz rubber or tar or whatever it is gets splashed up there. All in all I think I got 3 small chips from running the track. Oh well. The red box in front of the grill is the transponder so you know what your lap times are, otherwise you cant tell. It costs 400 dollars to buy one. Renting is $20. As expected Lotuses were in abundance. One of the instructors. I busted up laughing when Darren pointed these chairs out inside the room. If anyone can explain what in hell the chair with the hole is for.. Porta Potty? Torture chair a la James Bond? The main beginner's group instructor. He used to race professionally with trophies under his belt, as he let us know a handful of times. Johnny getting a ride from our instructor. Darren in his 335i. He turned up the fastest laptime out of all of us! I believe it was 1:46:07 Go Darren! Me. I hardly had time to take photos and the bleachers where we pit are terrible at getting in shots, but here are a few. How's that for maximum background blur! So yeah.. an R35 GT-R holds their fastest laptime for a production street car. I believe 1:15 Token cute fluffy animal. We got nothing on their rear diffusers lol. Our instructor's ride. Alvin, our instructor. Nice guy, spent extra time with us. Blue tape aftermath. Hope you enjoyed the photos. Hopefully we can arrange another M3 track event. Yeah I'll go again. Not anytime soon as it's not exactly cheap. I had a little trouble being smooth with the gas pedal as it's so responsive at high rpm's. Anyone else? Also the steering is kinda sensitive even on sport.

The group photo was right before we were leaving. Let us know when you set one up. I'd prefer to go to the same track as it's easy on our brakes and it'll give me a chance to practice my lines.

Sweet pics. What shutter speed/aperture where you using for thos panning shots with the back ground blurred?
Also, did you have the power button on? It makes the throttle super sensitive. How was running with SpeedVenture? I've heard it's kinda crazy and other's say it's really controlled and well run??

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Power button on normal. Steering set to sport. Speed Ventures... Well when we got there, no one exactly told us where to park. Luckily Alex knew where we should pit. Then we didn't know where exactly to meet these Speed Venture people.. No signs or anything. We figured it out soon enough though. Instructions were free so cant complain there. Our instructor Alvin was great. He was split between Johnny and I. So a few laps he was in my car, a few laps in his. The downloads (lectures after the sessions) were kinda boring but necessary I guess. They handed out a piece of paper of what time each group would run and the announcer also annouced it over the p.a so it was pretty organized.

No more tape please...notice the super cars don't run any painters tape
These are the best bonding times you get to have with real car enthusiasts. Looks like you guys had some good fun. But shame on you letting the 335 outshine your driving |

Damn, yall sure were worried about a few paint chips; that's a lot of tape. And were you required to have the tow hook screwed in? It looked like nearly everyone had theirs in.
