No way dude. The M3 sounds more beautiful and doesn't spew out smoke and oil from the exhaust. These engines are used to simulate hurricane conditions on mockup portions of buildings.

A little history tidbit:
Pratt & Whitney and BMW have a relationship dating back to 1928, when the two companies concluded a license agreement to build radial aircraft engines.

Very fitting considering BMW involvement in WWII. Though the title did throw me a little as I expected a WWII plane engine fitted in an M3, now those pictures would be worth seeing.

Thanks for all of your feedback, i truly appreciate it! Lemans, I had no idea that both companies joint ventured in WWII. Thank you! Without being too literal in the last shot with the rim, my intention was to make the connection between the BMW roundel and the prop in the background. Here are some of the stats of the engine:
Model: P&W R2800 "Double Wasp" Airplanes: DC-6 + Convair 440 Power Range: ~1800-2800hp One of my collegues (an engine guru who services the engines) tells me that this engine was used in the Corsair F4-u. Experimental versions of the engine reached ~3600hp at extreme boost pressures. And Footie, my subject heading is somewhat of a FAIL. I hear you, i'll try and photoshop it in. I've been a lurker for a while, but feel good to finally be here

My post was actually directed at the m3post membership in general, since I'm sure many of them had no idea that BMW and Pratt & Whitney formed an aviation partnership back in the 1920's. In fact, BMW aircraft engines were so feared, that the allied forces bombed the BMW factory back into the stone age after the war ended. (to prevent them from being manufactured again) BMW was also prohibited from building any type of aircraft engine after that, because their performance was so dominate during the war.

Thanks bro. This is in York, PA. Went for a business trip. There's a testing lab out there called Architectural Testing that uses these engines to simulate hurricane force winds. Harley Davidson has a plant there too. Will have to check out cradle of aviation.
