Skyline Run II - A Mid-Atlantic Driving Event

It's taken a little bit to get everything together for a proper post. So finally, here are the details...

In late 2009, Mid-Atlantic m3post members went on the second Skyline Run (see a video of the first Skyline Run here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=306163). The purpose is simple; To drive on the best roads the area has to offer. If you've ever been to NoVA or DC, you know this is a challenge. When one thinks of roads around here they think of 4 lane highways jam packed with traffic that isn't moving. With some scouting, a little help from Google Earth, and perfect time planning, we're not only able to find perfect back roads starting just a few miles outside of Fairfax, but also roads with little to no traffic.

There was a lot of spirited driving, a small scare with local Police that gave up once we hit the National Park, great cars, great food, great roads, and great people united by our pure love of driving.

We met up at a local iHOP parking lot. I was the first to arrive.

It didn't take long for the parking lot to fill up.

All European sport and super cars are welcome

And time for the drive!

Everyone kindly got out of our way

We stopped to give a local gas station some much appreciated business.

I'm scouting out all new roads for Skyline Run III, don't miss it!

Can't wait for Skyline III. Maybe even a track day!

I haven't driven my M3 hard in months...mostly in the garage for the winter. My right foot is itching for some action.

The color of choice in NovA/DC seems to be Black and Silver on all cars European. Actually, it may be difficult to find an AW for sale in this area.

Same here, I cant wait for the third iteration of this event. Too bad I had to leave early last time and missed the second half of the run...plus i had issues with one my SD cards on my gopro camera.

and with all the snow we have in the area, my car has been stuck in the garage connected to a battery tender
