Cupholder holder

There is an additional cupholder, and that is where it slides into. The holder is obviously removed in this picture. Usually I think that cupholder only comes when there is Nav, because the Idrive takes out on of the cupholders in the center.

that sucks, its the best cupholder in the car. also, great place to throw a phone. Anything helps in this car being it is so short in storage room/compartments.

if you just got the car, check in your trunk. maybe its near your battery

Agreed - but as some of us have discovered, it's a bad idea to force an oversize bottle or mug into it.

I completly disagree. I use that cupholder underneath the armrest as a place for my phone and wallet while I drive. Whenever I have a passenger in the car they complain that their knees hit that damned thing. Its always in my trunk, but it almost never goes in.

Altough I am thinking about making it into a mounting for a small LCD screen that could display my GPS from my laptop while I drive.

i love that cupholder, my phone goes there, and it's so close to the charger, works double as a charging station. I use the cupholder underneath the armrest for cologne, find a bottle that fits perfectly in there, and it's your .. i forgot to put on something cologne. plus it keeps your car smelling good too.

that cup holder is a piece of crap. ya it's convenient but that little black tongue thing breaks off ALL the time and it's a real bitch to put back together with the little metal rod and spring...

Yep I broke that black tongue the first week I had the car but I found a coffee mug that fits snugly in there without that piece.

I do throw my phone in that little cup holder underneath the armrest but wish they had made it more of a storage area than try to pass it off as a cup holder.

There is a fix for the broken tongue on the cupholder. Mine has been solid since I did the fix. Highly recommended.

I wonder how much they charge for a console without the 2 cupholders.
I think the 4 little "tongues" in them look goofy.
A slot just bigger than an iphone would be nice...

bmw takes shotgun to a new level.

serious note: better go to the dealership and get your cupholder! although it collides with the passenger seat when you move it forward, its my favorite place to put my cell phone.

i'm also surprised you have the hole, doesn't only come preinstalled when you have idrive?

Well people did describe the 135i as a sawnoff shotgun when it first came out.

The ONLY cupholder we get over here is the one under the armrest

However, I can't say much about that attachable one either. Seems like such an afterthought. I can just imagine a stray knee from my passenger completely obliterating that flimsy plastic ornament.

When a car is ordered as a dealer allocation car, it always includes idrive. So it gets configured with the cupholder. When the dealer changes the order to suit a customer's requirements, such as idrive delete, the BMW production order system doesn't auto delete the cupholder as well. So you end up with a non idrive and the cupholder.

Take it out when you have a passenger.
