iPhone'a address book does not integrate w/ iDrive Contacts
-
First, my iPhone is having no probs integrating fully w/ my 2010 335d's iDrive. But, when it comes to the 2009 M3's iDrive everything is integrating properly except for Contacts. I left the ///M at the dealer last week and they said that they could integrate an iPhone to the iDrive. I might add, when I left the car I suggested they upgrade the iDrive's software, as it appears my iPhone is working fine w/ the newer software in the 2010 335d. The dealer did not do this (wtf!) + Has anyone had this issue? I have a couple of hundred contacts so not as if the data to be loaded are excessive. Thoughts / suggestions? Thx, --- V

I'll bet your Google Maps/MyInfo works though, mine doesn't.

"MyInfo" is BMW's SMS portal that is used by Google Maps to send location information to the car. You look something up on Google Maps and one of the options is "Send". From that pop up you can select "Car" and then "BMW", "North America" and you BMW Assist account email address. When you send it the location information (address, phone, etc.) is sent to you car via this portal. The message should be retrievable from the iDrive "BMW Assist" menu by selecting "Messages".

I just switched from a Blackberry Curve 8900 (loved that phone) to an iPhone and it synced perfectly to my 08' (old) iDrive.
Funny enough, my brother in laws cars (C63 and GLK350) don't sync at all with the iPhone and he has to input his contacts manually. I keep telling him he should've bought a Bimmer!

But does not appear anyone has a similar anomaly to me where my iPhone integrates fine w/ a 2010 iDrive (s/ware installation) but not one less than 6m old in my 2009 M3.
ps the google maps option is cool.

My build date is pretty close to yours but a sedan and mine works fine. I think I have about a hundred contacts on my iPhone. It usually takes about two or three minutes before they show up in iDrive when using bluetooth. If I put the phone in the cradle, they show up almost instantly. It sounds more like a software issue than hardware. I hope you get it sorted.

Google Maps worked today for the first time since getting the car 4 weeks ago. Go figure.
