16+ haha you must be buzzing around the city quite fast.
Mine is usually about 12-13 just going to and from work and buzzing around the area. No long haul driving for me.

13 city-ish driving.
9.2 is my best out of a tank, that was 500km from perth to bunbury and back, average speed of 90km/h down the southwest highway

I also started driving the car in Oct 09. The trip computer says 11.2L, and I'm by no means a frugal driver. Are you talking about just start/stop driving within the city during the peak hours? I'm usually able to cruise to uni at around noon, but get caught up in the 5pm rush.

Used to average 9.6 during winter with no air con being used, but now it's about 10.1 with both city/surburban/highway. The only way I see you getting that high is that you must either like to use your right foot, or you don't change gears very often.
I have an auto, so change gear at the lowest point whenever I need to, unless I want to give it a burst in open traffic. |

this sound like me! almost 16l/100km. So may be normal for 135, but poor none the less.

I average around 11 or 12l/100 around the city and about 9.5 when I do the Augusta run (300km south of Perth).
Just to clarify: 135i, manual.

By the look of your logon and location we are driving the same roads and getting pretty the same result. The computer is telling me 16.4l/100km at the moment.
Apart from a couple of trips to Tullamarine all my driving to date has been in city traffic. Consumption is coming down though. I've only done about 700km in mine to date since November and initially according to the computer consumption was closer to 18l/100km. I'm actually being pretty gentle with the car at the moment keeping rev low during the run in etc 12-13l/100km would be a good result I reckon. |

On another note, I found that sitting on the highway doing exactly 110km/h on cruise control I was using 13.3l/100km in D mode vs 11.6l/100km in M6. I tested it on various occasions and made sure the road was flat. I also found that the air con wasn't use any extra fuel in both modes. I used to sit in M6 on the highway even when I was using cruise control but from now on I'll be using D where I can.

why would you use D mode (auto) when you found that tiptronic M6 mode was more fuel effiecient? Where i drive to and from work to home, there isnt much traffick. Its a 7 min drive on average. I may switch from auto mode to manuel to race of the line or around corners at times, maybe thats my issue with fuel consumption? I was looking at GTI specs recently--they avg around 7l/100km and ferrari, etc---14-15l/100km |

I averaged about 12 l/100 kms in my auto 135 vert and now I get about 13.5 in the M3 but I do tend to spend more time above 7000 revs in the M3 which can't be good for fuel economy. They both improved dramatically after about 5000 ks. My wife's 323 touring was 13 l/100 ks until it hit about 15000. It appeared to get much better after that. Maybe she bought lighter shoes!

Not sure why you would use more fuel being in D as it would still use 6th gear? |

I'm getting somewhere between 11-12l/100km urban fuel consumption. Some days that's stop/start, others i get a decent run home. I'm currently on 11.7l/100 over the last three tanks and the longest trip i've done is a 60km round trip.

Far out, those turbo's must rip you guys apart.
City driving, i'm around 9.2... Highway is around 7.5. Best Tank: 7.2 (continual freeway trips). |

This looks like a comparison of apples and oranges.
What is "normal"? Auto or manual? Driving style? Even so, I would suspect you have left the handbrake on or do not use 5th and 6th or do track time to average 16s! I have averaged just under 11 over 16K but I do more country driving than "normal".

Sure the GTI would drop down in the 6's or 7's on a country trip but I think even consistently gentle driving in a GTI in the city is going to put you in the mid 10's low 11's range Sadly my Ferrari experience has been rather too short to be worrying about fuel consumption! |

There are benefits too you know!!!!http://www.1addicts.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif
Its not as though its all downside - there is the rather compelling offset of 225kw when its time to play. |
