Will Lexus LFA put a nail coffin on BMW //M cars

with the IS-F attempt pretty done... should /M owners hold their breath on new Lexus LFA

Lexus site specs seems pretty impressive:
http://www.lexus.com/LFA/

4.8 LV10 552 HP
9,000 max rpm
202 mph top speed
0-6 in 3.6 secs

looks surely a //M3 killer but new //M5 may have better chance
another exciting era..
lets hold our breath and wait

Lexus has said that this car will be in the super car category so this will not do anything to hurt BMW M sales.

It is a limited production (less than 500 worldwide), $450,000 supercar that will be "leased" to high-profile clients only. May put a dent on Veyron sales.

Last I hear was that no LFA will be sold only leased, but the figure placed on the car was approx. £350K which is not only well beyond the price of all M cars but cost close on the price of all M car models sold by BMW put together.

Sorry but no nail in BMW or any other brands coffin. What this is my friend is a marketing exercise to boost image in the same way as VW did with the Phaeton, only in this case it's to boost an image of sportiest and not luxury. Tell me exactually what similarities this car has with the rest of the Lexus range apart from wearing the same badge?

At least with a BMW or Audi or Mercedes you can see the connection among models but here there is none.

Well, to be honest, Lexus probably has a better build quality than most BMWs. From my experience thus far with my M3, sales and service are TERRIBLE (BMW Arlington). Both Infiniti and Lexus sales and service are far better than what BMW has offered me thus far.

I owned two Infinitis (G35 and FX35) and had them service across 3 different states and it was amazing. I just purchased an RX400h for the wife and the sales and service is amazing; not only from the people but also the facilities.

Talking Ummm

"In your haste to create another woman you forgot one thing...to hook up the doll". - Kelly LeBrock "Weird Science" 1985

And to the OP, in your haste to put nails in the coffin of the M3 you forgot one critical "0" ... fyi my M3 goes from "0-6" in far less than 3.6 seconds.

M3 ftw

This is a joke question, right?
It's like asking whether the Enzo Ferrari would hurt M sales.
And for god sake the car is a pathetic. $350k-$450k for a vehicle that performs like an $80k GTR. Anyone that buys it has entirely too much money.

LFA IS ALREADY DEAD. - before it even hits the showroom.

The entry level Ferrari specs already exceed the LFA and it has a NA V8.

Ferrari F458 - $220,000 4.5-liter V8 570 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 398 pound-feet of torque at 6,000 rpm.

Lexus LFA - $375,000 4.8-liter V10 552 horsepower and 352 pound-feet of torque at 9000 rpm.

Ferrari's V8 for exceeds the LFA V10.

We'll have to wait for numbers to come to a conclusion now shouldn't we? I mean, it did put the fastest wet lap ever on Topgear(not that this means much), but the rumoured 'Ring times as well as others are clearly pointing that it performs better than the GTR ... not to mention the technology from chassis to body design to engine, every little detail on this car should not be overlooked...

Anyone who buys the LFA obviously does not care about a measly $450k, it'll be chump change to them...look at Shaq buying an RR phantom for LBJ...that alone shows you this kind of money is nothing to A LOT of people..especially when you consider 500 worldwide?

Ferrari's V8 for exceeds the LFA V10.
If you want to compare just the engine size then the F458 should be dead compared to ZR1s granted the price difference..

Btw, have you heard the LFA engine? It sounds pretty f'ing goood. Not to mention the way it revs, no motor right now holds a candle to that. I wouldn't come to a conclusion saying the Ferrari specs exceeds by looking at only paper stats, especially only comparing engine size and power

I agree that this definitely doesn't affect M sales, because 99% of us on here probably can't afford it anyways, which is why we think it's severely overpriced..i'm not saying it isn't..but relatively speaking
