OH BOY... You did not really post this as your first post...

In all honesty do some searches, find some mods you are interested in and then search more for info on those mods. Then when you cant find what you need, post questions about those mods in the threads about the specific mods...

Hope that helps...

The rational answer is don't do it. The emotional answer is get what you want. My car is stock. I like reliability and stealthiness.

It's definitely a large cash outlay relative to the purchase price of the car when you think about what you get for the money. In my opinion, many of the exterior mods just make the car look cheaper. The performance mods are pretty much pointless for street use and don't make a huge difference unless you go full bolt ons and a tune or FI. A $79 filter that supposedly makes 5hp is not going to change your life.

cosmetic or performance....i think cosmetic mods tend to add up very quickly, the majority of my mods are for performance

At 2600 miles it is too early to realize what some very smart engineers have put together for you. So the mileage has nothing to do with it.

I you have the bug you mod your car. (regardless of others' opinions)

If you are looking for suggestions here is mine: 1) Perf mods:Based on my experience I would suggest you mod yourself first by going to driving schools. Then you will know better what to change. 2) Cosmetic mods: this is the male version of the female accessory (handbag, shoes and other stuff) and is totally up to you and very pleasing to the eye if done correctly.

My suggestion is this. Keep driving the car stock for awhile longer. If you plan to track it, do that. Take an HPDE class or two.

With this experience under your belt, determine what (if anything) you don't like about your M3, either functionally or cosmetically, or what would help you enjoy your car more for the way you use it. Do some research here and elsewhere to see if those things can be fixed or improved on. Plan and research everything carefully in advance. Whatever you do, don't impulse buy.

Agree with previous two posters: most profound (and cost effective) upgrade you can make is to your own driving skills, via reputable driving school(s). You'll not only improve the driving experience in your M3, you'll do so in whatever vehicle you drive the rest of your life.

Only mods I'm making to my M3 is "consumables" for several driving schools I'm planning this upcoming season (brake pads/fluid/lines, tires/wheels, harnesses).

Keep it stock, the way the M division intended it to be. Why mess with a good thing? Keep it factory fresh.

Pretty hard to spend much time on this forum without catching the mod bug. Like others have said, take your time, and when you decide to buy a particular item, do your research.

Good luck, and enjoy the awesome car!

I choose to leave mine pretty much stock and save my $$ for the next car, unlike most here. To each his own, though. I can see how the mod bug is addicting...I had it about 10 years ago but have largely gotten over it. I figure the BMW guys have given us a pretty great product here and I just try to appreciate their work!

But if you track your car, you've pretty much gotta upgrade your brakes...

As already stated, learn your car in it's stock form. If your not satisfied with your car completly then mod away. It's always nice to see a slow progression going from mod to mod. I just recieved my first set of cosmetic mods today, cant wait to get off work and install them
