CLS55 AMG vs E90 M3

Well I was at a mile event yesterday and decided to have a few legal runs against a CLS55 AMG.

The results were expected but still fun to watch.

Conditions:

53 degrees
Very little head wind

CLS55:

-Removed secondary cats
-Filter
-One Passenger
-3/4 tank

M3:

-6 speed (no power shifting lifted off gas on every shift)
-AA Tune
-AA Filter
-Custom Midpipe
-One Passenger
-3/4 tank
-about 100lbs of crap in the trunk

Enjoy...

Yea as I expected but not as much of a difference as I would have expected with 100lbs in the trunk etc... and some tuning on the CLS. CLS is a heavy but very fast and powerful beast with huge torque.

Honestly now, who would show up to a legal racing event with 100lbs of "crap" in the trunk? Pretty hard to digest here. What was in his trunk? Dead Body? Weight Bench Set? 8 Bags of Top Soil? M-DCT car would been much closer results.

I didnt enter the car in the event...this was on the way out

If you need to know:

-detailing things
-5000 flyers that were delivered to me the night before
-tools in case someone needed help
-dead body
-etc

The results might not be 100% accurate as he had just done a few burnouts so his s/c was warmer than the "ideal" temp...i expected to get walked from the get go lol

I can't see how that would be an advantage as the 55K engines are well known to be prown to be getting heat soaked. Regardless good run

Why would he lie? Anyway, I believe it. I stayed 100% with a Renntech Super Charged CLS500 in Mexico City altitude where he would have the advantage (cause of FI) with my bone stock 6mt M3, so this is believable to me. I suppose that AMG with mods is pulling well over 500bhp so that it would outrun the M3 but not by too much.

Apologies. I mistakenly thought you made that comment as to say it was an advantage to the CLS55. Again my apologies.

Those 55K engines are averaging 420WHP on a Dyno Jet in stock form. I agree with his mods he is probably in the low 500's at the crank. The common modifications to the 55K motors are pulley/tune combinations.

Yea there is something about the CLS, wither you lover it or you hate it. I like it, but my wife as well thinks its hideous.

M3 help up well. With the big torque on the AMG, it must've felt like a rocket. But really, props to the M3. I got walked by one of those in Kleeman form. They can be beasts.

Nice vid. Very close. A rolling start, say from 60 or 70mph is probably the CLS55's strength. 0-60 is an impressive pull but the weight of the 55 is defintely a factor.
