18x10????

I have been seriously considering going with a widebody up front so I can stuff some real rubber under my 135 however aside from the forgelines on evolution raceworks car I have seen very few wide wheels fitted to the 1ers. Does anyone have suggestions for manufacturers or wheels that might come in offsets that would work to run a square 285 setup all around on 10" wide wheels???? Also weight is a serious deciding factor

Complete Custom Wheels will make any offset you want. We are using 18x10.5" CCWs on an E36 M3. See: http://www.ccwheel.com

No matter what you do, with the exception of tire pressure, the amount of rubber on the road won't change.

These wide body's don't do anything to the rear fenders do they? just the front right?

The APEX ARC-8 is available in a 1 series specific 18x9.5" rear fitment that we've tested with a 275/35/18 r-compound. That would be a very similar fit to a 285/30/18 setup. There's also an 18x9.5" et35 that could be used on the front. I would guess that you would still need to slightly spacer that on the 1 series. The member WAY will be running the ARC-8's on his widebody. The rear 9.5" wheel should be just over 18lbs.

From what I've learned when fitting up the 9.5" wheel in the rear, it would definitely require fender work to make a 10" wheel fit back there. The 9.5" is already close to having serious inner fender issues, you could only go out. And adding that extra 1/2" towards the outside would really much things up. That would be like running a 12mm spacer on our wheel. It would be one thing if you wanted to stretch rubber onto a wheel. But since you want to run a 285, you need a fender for that tire to fit into. So unless you widen the rear fenders, I think a 9.5" wheel with the right offset will be the max you can get away.

IIRC, The Evolution Raceworks' car has no wheel well lining in the rear, I think that's how they got away with the rubbing in the rear with 18x10.

Most custom wheel companies can make you the wheel in the offsets you need. It's usually companies that offer custom 3 piece wheels, i.e. Forgeline, HRE, iForge, you get the idea. Forgelines are great because they're stuff is lightweight as well as strong and have been proven to handle the rigors of racing.

There's also a company APEX I believe that are making wheels that will work with our widebody. The pricing is also affordable and I do believe they are fairly lightweight.

We do have the wheel well liner in the rear. It just rubs the liner . We don't care, doesn't affect performance. BTW, it doesn't rub anymore, we made a groove into the liner from rubbing it and now it doesn't rub hehe. If we rolled the fender, we would be good but we haven't, it's still unmolested.

The fitment for a 10" wheel in the rear has to be exact. You have a very small window for it to work. We recently had a competition where one of the sponsors was a tire company and we had to run their tires. We normally run a 285/30/18 but had to run a 285/35/18. I'll tell you, with just a small change in size, we ran into big time problems with clearance. Had the inside rub. Threw on a 5mm spacer and now we got outside rub on the actual fender instead of just liner which was bad. We ended up running the car rally style (raised up 3 to 4") just to try to compete.

285/35 is way to tall for the 135, and yes that makes a huge difference in fitment.
