antenna on 135i

Just realized my antenna on 135i vert is permanently upright. why not an automatic one that disappears when not in use?
Is this a convertible fixture only??

Yes it is on the vert only. The whip antenna replaces the shark's fin one on coupe's roof. I suppose they could have installed a retractable one, but it all means more $$. What's more telescopic antennas seem to be rather old fashioned these days. Much trendier to have a whip antenna for people to snap off ;-)

BTW I've seen a picture of a vert with a shark's fin antenna on the boot lid somewhere on this forum long ago.

if you dont really like the fixed antenna and find it a distraction, replace the long antenna to the stubby antenna, these can be purchased via ebay, simple screw off and screw back on

Yup agree on the stubby antenna mod. It is a must for the vert.

The thing I will never understand is that if you have BMW Assist or iDrive on a vert you get a small shark fin in the center of the bootlid. Plus the big antena on the left side. I dont understand why they couldnt also mount the radio into that shark fin.

You can purchase this antenna from this link direct..

The fourth pix on the far right hand side of the link is my car ( changed the plates since than ) as it was one of the first 1er's to have this antenna fitted..

I purchased two incase one got pinched..I think offhand they cost about $25US each plus postage..Reception remains the same..

Mate...just screws on in the original thread... The finish of the antenna is black gloss on a metal aerial..

Radio reception is unchanged..
